Coach Mark Richt is a wonderful person

He gave $1M to construction of the IPF

I didn’t say Richt didn’t care about the program. He is a good man and great Hurricane who put his own money into it, but fact remains the UM admin cared so little about fixing the program that Richt literally had to spend his own money to help build football facilities. And even after that, the UM admin didn’t have some sudden revelation that they needed to spend more. Nothing substantively changed until Herbstreit. If you want to say building the IPF was the pivotal change in UM football that set the stage for Cristobal 4 years and a failed coach later, you have a right to that opinion but I think it’s a bit of a stretch.

Listening to him on the ACC network pregame. Man what a good dude. I've said this numerous times and I will say it again. Thanks CMR.
Dude gave his own money to get the indoor facility constructed. Then, knowing he was slipping, walked away and didn't take the money that was owed to him.

Coach Richt seems to be 100% better than the last time I watched him. Obviously his therapy and meds are working. He seems more relaxed and open than before. It’s refreshing to listen to his unbiased opinions and analytics.

I like Richt as a person, but what exactly did he do to fix the program long term ? He hand picked Diaz , then recommend him as his successor. The team was already failing when Diaz took over, and what really turned the program around was hitting rock bottom and having Kirk Herbstreit put UM on blast. That was embarrassing and exposed the UM admin and BOT as a disgrace. That’s when they finally decided to put money into the program. Richt had to put in his own money for the IPF- and it didn’t spur a change in mindset for the penny pinchers at UM that put the E over the W. So I guess you could say our resurgence is tied to Richt in that he helped us reach absolute rock bottom through his DC hire, and then we climbed our way back out. If Herbstreit does not call UM out, I think we’d have replaced Diaz with a G5 hire like Sunbelt Billy
Short memory fella, Mario's hire was torn apart by many on this board.

Just stop. We all know what your flawed position is. Let folks celebrate Mark some and sit down.

He was the only hire in decades with legit accomplishments. 2 SEC titles. His 2007 season was pretty impressive too. He championed the IPF.

He got tons of venom his way expecting a better coach to walk through the door.

In person he treated everyone like family. Super friendly guy full of love.

He lives in my neck now. See him around and have had him as a speaker at an event of ours after his medical event. He is a Great human being. I have receipts that can be pulled on me for calling him rekt and I stand behind it all, but I adore him now and am grateful for his contributions.
