Coach D

Our corners still look like a weakness - their guy Dukes was beating his man regularly. Fortunately their QBs weren't too great at delivering the ball. Safeties a question mark too but Bush should help a lot there. Line and LBs were as good as I hoped.

Overall I'm pretty happy. Can't wait to see them face a real opponent next week.

For a first game of the season, they didn't look that bad. Had some sloppy moments, but not bad at all. Let's not act like Dukes is some worthless WR. He's on the Biletnikoff watch list for the season and actually a very quality WR.

Defense still has some issues and will prolly be exposed next weak. Pierre especially. S is a huge question mark. Corners look sketchy at best. Burns looked good and I think he will eventually emerge inspite of coach d. Pass rush appeas to be a lil better but that's not saying much.

Fau rotated 3 garbage qb's who were all bad.

Agree, Next week will tell alot.

Shut the **** up.

That's the most physical our front has been in years. Yes I realize it's FAU, but even when we play garbage teams we have struggled to overpower the opposing OL. Pretty much everyone that played up front made a play last night.

Oh and our best defensive player wasn't on the field. As good as Deon was last year, just wait till he gets rolling this year.

I'm more excited about the defenses we ran than the physical improvements and the new additions. I know we were bigger and stronger, but we started putting it to use.

Bigger, better, more experienced players will make Corch Duh' a lot smarter this year. All the dopes will continue to look for reasons to slam him, but there wasn't a DC in the history of football who was going to do anything with that team last year.

We played man press coverage all night and it needs to be the defensive philosophy moving forward.
These So Fla DBs are comfortable jamming WRs at the LOS. Very excited to see this again.

Also - the 3-4 was great. Good against the run.

Our corners looked weak? Tracy Howard was never mentioned all night because he was a blanket.

I'd rather have this opening week performance, than last season's. Whether we played Boston College or FAU. The defense looked pretty good. We just need to stop waiting for the bad plays and know they aren't coming.

So which corner was sketchy if not Burns? Surely wasn't Howard..

Yea agree they looked kinda shakey Just didnt look comfortable, good thing they had 3 garbage qb's

You can't have it both ways, last year it was negative and Dorito this and Dorito that, after Bethune and the likes of Duke and Virginia. At the end of the day, the defense did what they were supposed to do. They played an inferior team and shut them down. They gave a variety of looks, they mixed in some nice blitz packages, the D line was strong at the point of attack and won that battle. Is it an inferior team? yes, is this what they should do against a team like that? yes But the FACT of the matter is, last year we could not say that and were bemoaning that fact, and attacking our D and its coordinator. First game out of the gate and the D performed the polar opposite of last year. Which is what I was hoping for. First test out of the way, now the next one against those turds

So all you negative nancies who just look for a reason to critique and attack your point of view and your apparent disdain for our coach and D Coordinator (Newkirk, TP and the likes) STFU! Stay quiet you have no basis after last night, lie in the weeds, wait for the opportune time, I'm sure there will be some games that will allow you to say "See I told you so" and punks like TP and the rest can go and like your posts. Tis better to let them think you are dumb, than to open your mouth and prove them right.

This week already told a lot. This defense is light years better than last year's. Last year we could not stop the run. We'd get blown off the ball and teams would gash us regularly for 6-10 yards. Running plays would routinely feature backs running into gaping voids in our defense where no player from the front seven was anywhere to be found and us fans were left wondering who screwed up. And that was against all competition, including bethune cookman, who ran for 250 yards on us. How many runs did they have up the gut last night for 6 to 10 yards? How many times did fau run into an empty void in our defense because someone blew the assignment or got blown 5 yards off the ball? I didn't see that at all. We looked big up front and we're running two deep with size and experience. We looked sound fundamentally, guys knew what they were doing and where to be. Defenders were dropping ball carriers if they got their hands on them.

I don't know what's going to happen against UF. They're a really good team and it's an early season game. But I do know that over the course of the season this defense is going be way, way better than last year.

Stronger, bigger, faster. We have a lot more depth on the D and it showed in all positions. The tackling was superb, the best I've seen in years. Held a team under 10 points, lots of positives, color me impressed for our first game.

Rodgers is still hugging, not tackling. Pathetic!

Sure hugged the **** out of the quarterback on his sack/forced fumble.

Stop that. You know the narrative is that man can't play football and he must be replaced. Never mind winning the starting spot, playing very well last night. HE.MUST.BE.CRITICIZED.

Defense looked good. Everyone needs to stay healthy for this big test this weekend.
