Ehh, We couldve given him the gameball before the game. I guess its a confidence thing. He will earn it next week
 
Stronger, bigger, faster. We have a lot more depth on the D and it showed in all positions. The tackling was superb, the best I've seen in years. Held a team under 10 points, lots of positives, color me impressed for our first game.

Our offense allowed Fau the last FG and our Offense could not score on the last GUS the Bus drive....1st team D held these guys to 6 points and less than 200 yards all night...we will not be 118th in country this week...LOL

How about the play where Figatron snatched the runner down on a 3rd and 1 play. The runner had the edge and looked like he would make for sure. Out of nowhere Figs stops him in his tracks. Impressive!
 
I very much like our defense. And Deon will make a significant difference in the secondary. Guarantee you the Boca Juniors put up at least 20-24 points on last years team. Only reason they got 6 was because Morris and Dorsett decided to sleepwalk in the third quarter.

Well earned. They looked ready, prepared and did what they had to do vs an inferior opponent. That's what good defenses do.
 
Defense still has some issues and will prolly be exposed next weak. Pierre especially. S is a huge question mark. Corners look sketchy at best. Burns looked good and I think he will eventually emerge inspite of coach d. Pass rush appeas to be a lil better but that's not saying much.

Fau rotated 3 garbage qb's who were all bad.

Agree, Next week will tell alot.

Oh look, the coach Dorito hater is still skeptical of the defense after not allowing a TD and holding FAU to 250 yards. Never saw that coming.

Defense looked better than the Offense last night. Been long time since we could say that. Maybe since the last swamp scum game when our young hopefuls put the helmets on Tebow. Well at least the last couple years. I want to see a lot more Artie Burns on D and on kickoffs with Duke, and a lot more of Fig everywhere we can; he actually hits people, not just grabs them. Did see some Dlinemen in backfield last night. That was nice. Still think LBs line up to far off scrimmage. If D gets even better at locking up QB and O can find itself, our kicking game can win the game next week. Let's hope the WRs got the drops out of their systems last night.
 
My one area of worry is we looked lost against the hurry up. Half the time, Our D-line wasn't set when the ball was snapped. It was a disaster, that can't happen against UF but I'll be optimistic and say now that we've had a trial run we will be better. Gilbert looked like the goods to me, as did Renfrow and Kamalu.

Our defense has me really excited. They looked like a run of a mill average div 1 defense, and at this point it's all you can ask for. We should win all the games we are favored in this year, and that was the biggest thing I got out of last nite. LBs still struggle in coverage but everything else looks much tighter and I expect us to only get better. We will win the coastal this year. Like already mentioned, last BC, both of them, torched us.

I suspect we will have Bush back next week, which will help the situation at safety tremendously. I really liked what I saw from our D last night. I was skeptical at first too considering the opponent but then someone pointed out that BCC racked up 355 yards on this defense last year. Our starting defense held FAU to under 200 total yards before FAU picked up some yardage in garbage time. We actually had a legitimate pass rush for the first time in years. Our linebackers were not blowing assignments and we didn't look like the keystone cops when we blitzed. True, next week is an entirely different animal but there was a lot to like about the way our defense played last night. I am cautiously optimistic.
