Smooth recruiter but has moved the ball vs UF or any ACC opponent. Anyone can move the ball vs FAU, SSU and USF.

He did have to dumb it down. Took the middle of the field out of the playbook.

This offense had 324 yards passing, wouldve been more if Walford and Herb couldve held on to the balls they dropped.

The running game couldnt get going b/c the defense couldnt get off the field and allowed VT to continue to increase the deficit.

James Coley is in his 1st year, he has more reasonable excuses then Coach D'onofrio.

Zone, Coley is in his 1st year, but this is not a volunteer or charitable organization. He's getting paid to do a job and is expected to come in ready to go. Our offense this season has been horrible at times. In fact, it's only shown any sign of consistency against terrible teams. That's on our OC.

Right now we have like six QBs on our roster. Find one that you trust and play big boy football.

Coley frustrates me probably more than Dorito. VT had 7+ men in the box the entire game and were daring morris to beat them with single safety man press coverage. Sure, the fuller brothers are good CB's, but our receivers have more speed and athleticism than the VT secondary. Sure enough, Coley dials up run plays on 1st down all game besides those 3 passes to Walford for negative yardage. The few times we tested them deep Waters dropped a pass, he was overthrown but had his man beat, and Morris hit hurns for the TD Lastly, as a senior QB morris should have the knowledge to check at the line if he knows the run is gonna get stuffed. This offense is a train wreck and Dorito is another story.

Zone please stop defending Morris in every thread.
His stats on 3rd down are 22-52 for 42.3% with 2 TDs and 7 INTs.
That is not good for any QB, let alone a senior QB.

Had we run the same drag plays underneath against their blitzes that they did against ours and thrown to the open areas of the middle of the field rather than the flat or behind the line of scrimmage we would have moved the chains all night or until they made adjustments.

This is a James Coley thread and that's who i was talking about....

as far as Stephen Morris is concerned, he did his job tonight. you can get off his **** for tonight and just focus on the more critical problems like this defense for once.

How can u blame anything that happened tonight on James Coley?

Coley is frustrating, but it his first year, and the offense did enough to win had the defense stepped up. Putting up 24 points and no offensive turnovers against a top 5 defense is pretty good. Not to mention that was with basically 0 running game since Duke was out.

Maybe Jimbo knew what he was letting go.

Sigh.

What angers me so much is that FSU has had the coaching turnover it has had and is the best its been under Jimbob.

They've found coordinators and coaches who can innovate and haven't missed a beat.

You can blame the talent gap, which exists, but the way this team is coached is concerning.

To be honest I feel like Coley is trying to protect Stephen Morris with his play calling. The same thing happened when Jacory Harris was our starting quarterback with Jed Fisch.

Meh. With a bad QB, our best player, best WR, and another key player in Scott, and it being his first year calling plays, I give him a pass. I really have 2 problems with the offense. The running plays. The stretch play works with Duke because of his elite vision. It does not work with Crawford/Edwards. They need power running plays called. That's what we did in the UNC game and it worked. Either way, not a fan of the pistol, and especially the pistol stretch plays...

The other problem is we seemingly ignore the middle of the field. Having been paying close attention to this, it's Morris' fault. We run routes in the middle of the field. Morris just ignores it. I remember on one 3rd down incompletion today he had Coley open on a crossing route but threw a terrible inaccurate pass on an out route instead. I very highly doubt Morris is being taught to ignore the middle of the field...

I agree with Bryden. Coley is protecting his QB. We heard many of the same complaints about Fisch his first year. Even last year.

Let's look at our offense at the beginning of this season. Stephen Morris was our QB and is now playing with a sprained Achilles, which takes almost a month to recover from. Duke was our one and only RB which should of screwed us from the get go and should leave us with a nice little notice to never rely on one back to get majority of the carries unless he is elite. Our o-line is rotating but the depth is still light and green. Our tight ends are blocking ones before receiving, Clives hands I'm certain are prosthetics. Allen is our best receiver behind now Herb Waters who we said in august is still learning the offense. Phillip is a nice speedster who stretches the field but has his drops, and Malcolm and Rashawn are still trying to come back from their injuries. And then we are starting a freshman. The problem we have on offense is trying to start the running game with a back that everyone is watching, then having to force passes to receivers who are nice but aren't anything great. This season for Morris is just him finishing up his career fighting an injury while he over stuffed a running back into an injury.

TL;DR: The lack of depth rotation has killed us.

Coley has no excuse really.

He has the best unit of the 2, and it isn't even close.

A veteran OL, that was suppose to be one of the best in the country.

A veteran QB, that was suppose to be one of the best in the country.

Prior to Duke going down. One of the best in the country.

A great core of WR.

Yet, his unit has squeaked by every week to score points.

The defense is hot trash, because of the scheme, and the talent that it has. Yet even with what talent it does have. It should be playing better than what it is.
