Clive Walford Unranked TE LOW 3*

There was literally NOONE that liked this commitment when it happened. A lot of it had to do with timing though IIRC. We were in a stretch of taking some really ****** prospects. People were up in arms about Clive but not sure they even knew who he was.

Good to see him stick it out and set himself up for a nice senior year. Would have loved to see him and Williams do some things.
That's how I remember it too. The 5 commits we got over the 2 previous months before him were; Kacy Rodgers, Kevin Nelson, Maurice Hagens, Darion Hall, and Jeremy Davis. He committed in the summer before his senior year after only playing a little bit as a junior. Gerald Christian at Dwyer was the big time local name people wanted and he committed to UiF a few months later.

I hope the best for the kid and he has without a doubt surpassed expectations, but any predictions about next years draft is worthless at this point. People had Logan Thomas as a top 10 pick a couple of years ago........

Wasn't Buxton right around Clive as well? Some reason I remember them being near eachother and people looking for the nearest bridge to leap off of

Not trying to stir it up, but I remember it differently. Walford was a BB player, not a football player, and considered a true project. But there was a large group that like the pickup based on his raw talent. I agree we all wanted Christian, but Walford is the type of kid you take a flyer on.

Yep. The only film on him was from some 7v7 camp at WR, but we were recruiting him at DB or whatever.

/Also, people were *****ing about the class in May & June. People were told, "OMG, it's only May/June!! Calm down we already have ~10 or whatever commits!!!!"

He may not have played a down until he was a senior. I remember watching some spring game highlights before the summer of his Senior year. I thought he played a little bit as a Junior. It was kinda similar to Demetrius Jackson in that he was changing sports as an upper-classman.

Yea he didn't play until his senior year... He averaged like 20 yards a catch...
