Two different positions. History has shown at the line of scrimmage most of the times incoming freshman are not physically ready to be a real contributor and effective. There is a difference physically between and 18-19 year old kid who just started a real S&C regimen going up against a 21-22 who has been at it now a couple of years. The simple physical maturity is not there to be a real contributor and make an impact. There are always exceptions but normally thats the case. The reality he looks like he will come in and contribute early . Accordingly to this board 5 star Scott and 4 star jones want be ready . Why are they ranked so high if they’re not ready and this kid seems ready now . They need to stop handing out 5 star unless they’re ready day 1 . That supposed to be the best of the best. Taylor 5 star probably should have been a 3 star he was average at best
The skill positions is a little less physically demanding as opposed to the LOS. Speed and quickness and acceleration are the first prerequisite for a DB physically. Strength training, which is still needed, but for that position is not the end all be all for quality contributions, and is why you see underclassmen be able to contribute quicker and you can have a realistic hope of that possibility.
Regardless of stars LOS players typically don’t contribute right away
Just my two cents
