9 out of 23 is not a terrible hit rate.

It’s not great, but not terrible for a class.

The issue I have is that the majority of the 14 busts are 4-star players. Can’t win like that long term.

You can put an X on Tommy Kennedy (while removing Matocha’s).

@Ghandi, what is considered a “good” hit rate? I can’t imagine that a class where less than half of the recruits are in the two deep by the time they are upperclassmen is good, but honestly asking.

Wonder what the upper echelon teams have especially with transfer portal nowadays.

I've been looking though these classes form 16 to 20 and good God, easily will go down as one of the worst bunch of evaluators in the programs history.

For me, you need to have 50% (12-13 kids) of your recruiting class making meaningful on-field contributions for your team by their Junior year.

Thats three summers, three springs heading into the fall of your Junior year.

Some of those guys didn’t even get out from under the bench, much less off of it.

The 9 that they did get contributions from where high end college players. Except Huff; he sucks.

That formula isn't going to work for programs that want to win big consistently.

9 kids from your Jr and Sr class is 18 kids. That’s 80% of the starters on the field at any given point. You supplement with talented FR, RFr, and Sophomores who can contribute. That gives you roughly 32-34 kids who you can trust and roll out there.

Are you saying that’s just not deep enough to compete at the highest level?

Exactly! Thinking about a 2 deep on offense and defense along with a few specialists! But I would add that with the portal aka free agency kids are moving around with a little more fluidity.

Attrition: It's actually 10 out of 25... the problem is none of 10 contributed at all!!! They didn't transfer out due to lack of playing time, they didn't play.

Portal: Also Osborn, Phillips, Hill, Nnoruka, Bolden (injury) only contributed 1 year. Kennedy was there for a year as well but his contributions are debatable.

That leaves you with only 8 players in the entire class with multiples years to develop and play. 2 (Matocha, Huff) of whom has yet to play much going into year 4.

Ironically the best players from the class were the lowest ranked: Zion (1429), Headley (425 JC), Clark (1518)
