Class Impact: Jaylan Knighton to Miami

A better question for the geeks that have clout here like @Liberty City El @gogeta4 does a Chaney or Knighton are on that Cook level?

No homerism involved just good football guys like LCE and GG4
tough to say but I think Chaney is on his level at this stage of his development as a back maybe even further along. But once cook got coaching at FSU he exploded

I think Chaney and Knighton are very close, but Chaney has the highest upside I think he has the big frame that can carry 215+...I give him a slight edge in top speed too with that long stride. For some reason I think Knighton has the higher floor, there's a little part of me that wonders if Don Chaney can ever get "tough" yards and if he has that dog in him. No idea why

It's phenomenal to me we are landing both in a 6-6 year where we were a midpack running team AT BEST with major O-line issues. Thank you Hickson, thank you Willie Taggart, thank you Restrepo, and thank you Clemson and OSU for filling up.

Both of chaney and knighton are PREMIER talents and complement each other very well. What most people don’t realize is how big knighton already is, he was 195 pounds(bigger than Demarcus bowman already) 5 months ago in July at the Nike opening and still ran a 4.49 laser 40. This kid will be a couple pounds lighter than duke Johnson was leaving Miami as a junior as a true freshman so he has a pretty big frame. He reminds me of a mix of duke Johnson and dalvin cook but runs with a little more power than you would first expect.

In regards to Chaney you are getting another elite talent who has an impeccable work ethic and is also an elite athlete at the position, he averaged 11.15 yards per carry this year and that’s with a schedule of playing the likes of Columbus, Miami norland, Miami central, cardinal gibbons , Miami central , gulliver prep etc which have a lot of d1 talents on D and considering who was blocking and playing around Chaney that’s very good. He has a big frame with the breakaway speed as well. Reminds me of a mixture of mcgahee and pre injury gore a little just in terms of play style and the way he runs.

we are very blessed to have these 2playing for Miami next year

Early Chaney highlights reminded me of Gore, as he grew a little and his jr/senior stuff I see Mcghee...Mchaghee/mixed with a little gore is a nice call.

I see some Duke Johnson in Knighton, but more so Gio Bernard. Back in the day, I'd say James Jackson, but can make you miss more than JJ could, a little more wiggle, Jackson didn't really make people miss, but had everything else. Knighton can make you miss to.

I agree they are close.

What about Knighton reminds you of Gio?

I think Chaney is almost a finished product and Knighton can improve cause he's tiny to me.
Knighton is not tiny, at the opening Chaney measured in at 203 or so whereas knighton measured in at 195. Not that big of a difference in weight wise and that’s great size for rbs entering college

I'll be honest I saw Duke play two playoff game in his last year, he's the best by far I've ever seen. Never seen anyone who dominated like that. Never seen anyone who could cut like he did in High School. Sat behind his mother at the Muck for a game, I asked the guy next to me after after 7 or 8 minutes what's up with Duke only had a couple of touches for a few yards.

He gave me the biggest smile you'd ever seen, he said just watch you won't believe what you're going to see. He ended up with about 275 yards he was right, this kid was on another level. Got over 300 yards in the other game. If Duke had stayed at Miami nobody would have broke his record. IMO. I hope you're right and this kid is close to being as good as Duke.
Im guessing you didnt see cook?

I would tell people, that era of backs had to be up there for the amount of talent that was on display in south florida at the time

Ill even throw Miller in who kicked it off

Duke
Sony
Collins
Cook
Yearby
Scarlett

That was a special group man..

The question isn't which one is better... It's do we have an OC that will use them properly?

If you're honest with yourself, then you know the answer.

As far as their talent is concerned, they are both potential Superstars, WITH AN OC WHO ISN'T A STUBBORN JACKASS.

Chaney reminds me of two different RB's, Sony Michel with more power & a little bit of Lesean McCoy with less wiggle.

Knighton reminds me a lot of Lamichael James.

The key is putting them in the best offensive system to allow their talent to shine, which we don't have with our current OC. Diaz better wake the fck up & get rid of that bum & bring in an OC that will know what to do with all these talented players we got on Offense.
