This is based on need, quality of talent, hitting on our top targets, etc. Just my opinion.

QB A
Nickel is underrated and could potentially be our QB of the future

RB A-
Pringle is a great prospect. Wouldn’t have minded a 2nd RB

WR B
Solid haul, but we missed on our top targets and still lack a dynamic WR1, at least on paper

TE A
Great class. We continue to crush TE recruiting

OL B-
A for the interior, D+ for the exterior. SJ could be a day 1 starter. Buchanan could be a year 1 rotation guy. The tackles are true developmental types, and I’m skeptical on either working out. Would’ve liked to add more talent on the exterior

DE B+
Lowe was an excellent flip that didn’t get talked about enough. Scroggins is underrated

DT D
Just one commit, who is an undersized project. I know we signed an elite haul last year, but you got to stack classes. Not flipping Carter was disappointing.

LB B-
Wiley saved this class. Not flipping Alford still hurts some

DB B-
Solid haul, but not sure how many of these guys can help from day 1, especially with some coming off injuries. Missed out on our top targets

Safety D-
Just one commit, who is a raw athlete and arguably a tweener, at arguably our biggest position of need is inexcusably bad.

Overall, the offensive class is very solid, although lacking true star power at WR and underwhelming some at Tackle. The defensive class is where things are very disappointing.

With Guidry still here would you want to take a chance he doesn’t get fired and you’re stuck playing in this defense…should have been let go and anyone can do as well if not better running the defense if by the grace of GOD we happened to make it into the CFP..

The good news in these grades is we have the portal.

My biggest question moving forward is what is the entire football organizations plan. Will they realize the desperate nature of failing to close and keep important players will they find a way to add to the NIL budget? Because to me it seems like that was the biggest factor. Never mind the emotional BS on how Mario isn’t an elite recruiter or Guidry sucks, or the schedule or all the things other fan bases crap on Miami for. What will their next move be. Because if it’s nothing, we will not see Russell in a canes uniform. And we will not stack talent. What’s the plan?

If we land 18 studs in the portal there’s the answer. But I don’t know how we just ignore the money factor as a possible issue closing. Mario is a lot of things. He didn’t forget how to recruit.

Simpson is a flyer you take a DT every year. Probably don’t play for 3 years as he’s 16 but his junior year I won’t be shocked if he’s a starter for Miami next to Artavius Jones

Simpson is not a bad prospect, but he’s a true project who won’t be ready until at least year 3. If we want to get to having Bama/Georgia level DT talent and depth, you have to stack at LEAST one Justin Scott type a class.

I gotta think that they would rather get leveraged by a good/great experienced player in the portal than an unproven high school kid. Hence reallocation of budget IMO.

Agree. I'll take Mario at his word and wait and see what the portal class looks like. Believe he realizes how important it is that the program doesn't take a step back next year. Best way to ensure that is to have a knockout portal class. We'll see.

Odd that DeBoer only took 3 3-star interior defensive linemen this year (2 are JUCO). Can't imagine that is gonna endear him with Bama fan

Would you rather give $2m to a 17 year old five star who’s played TWELVE varsity football games or give that amount to a proven high level CB?

Mykah Newton is a DT correct? Or is he a DE for us?

I'd rather they just give the $2m to me. While you're using a hyperbolic example, I see what you're getting at.

To maximize our success as a team next year, which I believe is our best bet to have an elite top5 HS class in '26, we should allocate a higher % of scarce resources towards the portal. In the coming days, we'll see who stays and who goes, but we signed really, really good classes the two prior years. We should see more starters and contributers next year from those two classes. In the spots that we are talent and experience deficient, we need to get the creme de la creme in the portal.

I hope we don't get "depth" or "project" pieces - guys like Marley Cook, Dyoni Hill, Anthony Campbell, etc. - in the portal this time around. No offense to those guys. We need super talented players at positions of need, and we need to give them pots of gold.

Hopefully going forward we can achieve better balance between the HS and Portal classes, as we don't want to end up too portal reliant like the girls school in Tallahassee.

How about we stack talent so we can dominate Syracuse and GTech?

Bama and Georgia don’t matter if you can’t make it to the **** playoffs smh.

Points are well stated. The days of relationship building and out working other staffs are over. It’s more than ever about above-board money. Mario is a CEO functioning with a budget, Unfortunately, top SEC and Big Ten programs have larger budgets.
This is a sold class at least. Pre-Mario, we’d be delighted. Key is development of these HS classes and smartly bringing in impact players from portal.

I have wr A . We kept upshaw who we all thought we was going to lose . Toney, and added some height with Moore . We added more speed to go with last years wr class . Lb i arguably think we got the best lb in the state size and speed to go with it . Plus Marcelin So B , dt c plus the reason we got de who are big enough who could be moved inside in a year or so . Dbs is a joke again F , Ol C , one note both upshaw or Toney is an upgrade on kick off and punt returns .

Who's Russell?

Our offensive class is pretty good. Got our QB we wanted. A top RB. Very good WR’s. One top OLine.

What kept us from a top class was we couldn’t close on defense. Alford, Nix, Stubbs, Merritt, Hanks, Pickett, Carter.

And I think a lot wanted to come here… but if you’re Alford or Nix being recruited, who is going to coach you? Will Guidry be back? Will D-Nich? Your main recruiter? Or Stubbs being recruited by Guidry himself and Jackson?
