Miami making a run for Henderson

Miami hosted four-star cornerback Christopher Henderson for a unofficial visit in the middle of last week. While on campus, Henderson did not meet with coaches, as the staff was on the road recruiting. However, he did meet with Deon Bush, an NFL safety that also attended high school at Miami (Fla.) Columbus before going to play with the Hurricanes in college.

It’s clear the angle was showing Henderson another Columbus High star from not long ago took a path to the NFL that is very possible for him. Henderson was previously committed to the Hurricanes, and the need in the secondary for next fall is dire.

Even while Henderson was committed to Miami, some close to the Columbus start thought he was heading to Florida and that a decommitment was sure to come. That decommitment came and the feeling of Florida being the favorite remained for weeks, if not months. However, those same people close to Henderson now feel he might be leaning back towards to hometown team.

Miami head coach Mark Richt still has an in-home meeting with Henderson to use. However, the plan for the Hurricanes might center around getting Henderson back on campus Sunday after he competes for Team USA Saturday night in Orlando.

Any of you recruiting experts know if Henderson is a legitimate RB prospect? Because we don't need him at CB. We've got Bandy and Dallas, plus Dean likely. We need him at RB if McFarland bolts.

WR or CB for Henderson, probably would put DeeJay at RB before him. If McFarland goes to Maryland Richt will find a transfer or something. We will be fine, it sucks, but we will be fine.

He has the speed but not the frame for RB. Unless he gets some broader shoulders between now and fall (if he comin) think he would max out at 6'1 190lbs tops.

Yea but Deon Bush had narrow shoulders too ..i could see him at safety I think he could get to 205 but yea i dont see him as a running back

Perfect player where you use him in all three aspects of the game. Let him be a DB, returner, and find creative ways to sparingly get him the ball in open space.

No. Just no. We need a to cb in the country to switch to RB to be our fourth string rather than compete and potentially play at our weakest position group on the team in corner?

DJ Dallas. Trajan Bandy. Jhavonte Dean. Malek Young. Those are your 4 CBs (plus Redwine and Jackson for your emergency reserve).

Now look at the depth chart at RB if McFarland doesn't come.

It's not a done deal that Dallas is a CB

How do we not know Henderson is better than those? And how many years does Dean have to play?

I see your point but it's not like we would be screwed at RB. Don't take talent away from a position like that unless absolutely needed like Homer or choc got hurt and Henderson didn't beat out the other guys

Fine wid me. I'm just saying, we got CB covered with this class. We also got a shi*load of CBs coming in 2018 so when Dean graduates, we'll be fine.

When i look at RB without McFarland, i see Walton and Homer. I don't want to play the 2017 season with just two serviceable backs on the roster.

henderson just retweeted the herbert tweet announcing to miami

anyone have henderson's 40 time? if i remember correctly he's our fastest target/commit right?

i would feel much better about this class with him in it, team speed is only getting better
