Shows the team that they can leave nothing up to the voters. Win every game and win big. Back in the day we got worked over very chance there was. Butch got screwed out of his NC game by love of St Bobby.

Actually we got screwed by the computer polls. We were ahead in the human polls. They adjusted the computer component of the BCS the following year because of it.

people who are starved for their team to be respected, which some UM fans are. i'm not saying i blame you... you guys have had a tough road.

the calmer bunch knows (and i agree) that if um just keeps winning it will all work out.

There have been many many examples of teams that go 11-1 or 10-2 and miss out on major bowl money because they arent ranked highly enough. Its a fairly well understood concept that where you start the season in the polls will have an effect on your ability to rise in the polls throughout the season. This is the main reason why the BCS doesnt come out with its first poll until week 6.

(Not sure it exactly week 6 but the point remains)
