I don't know why he gets a free pass, but Chick (with or without the 10-15 extra pounds) does not have elite talent. He is a solid depth player, and the effort is certainly there, but I put him in the same category as Shayon. I would love to hear disagreement or excuses on this topic...

Havn't heard anyone say different since his freshman year.

I haven't see anyone throw him under the bus either. Why not the DE equivalent comparison to Gaines, Cornelius, or Rodgers? All good dudes who put in effort...

Much like everyone else on defense he isn't put in a position to succeed. If you don't think these guys would look different playing in a different scheme the I don't know what to tell you.

I'm ready for a scheme change bro... I want nothing more than our boys to succeed. I just do t know that Chick would be dominating in any scheme. He'd be a DT in 4-3... Too slow off the edge.

They asked him to put on too much weight. At Louisville he would be a baller 4-3 DE. People forget that he dominated the HS all star game.

A fear we are going to make AQM mediocre as well but in a different fashion. Watching him cover 15 yards downfield does not make me happy

IMO we have a DL coach that is terrible. At one of the most important positions we have a guy who can't coach these guys up. I would replace him ASAP.

As for Chick it would not shock me if he played a lot better with better coaching.

Al has three things to do between now and spring ball, otherwise expect more of the same:

1. Replace some position coaches,

2. Replace the DC, and

3. Keep the class together and grab another stud or two.

did u see him at the high school all star game, the kid dominated against the best of his peers, and its not 15 pounds, he went from 235 to 270 in one year. theres no way it was all good weight. he could be 250lbs in the 4-3 at DE and be a consistent 8 sack a year guy

I believe this as well. Also Think he would be great against the run as a 4-3 DE at that weight.

Really to dominate at a all-star game is not that big of deal. Your playing against a o-line that has never played together and most are at a new position during that game. Hustle can only get you so far with the big boys.

I hate to say it, but he chose the wrong school. He would have been much better at a different program. Now, he's going into his senior year and will either A) have the same scheme/staff or B) have to learn a new scheme/coach in his final year.
