In the past couple days, this board has gotten away from what we set out to build. This site is meant for serious football discussion from people who want to cut past the bull****. We haven't had that lately. Some people have blamed the new posters, but that's not fair. A lot of our veterans have done their part in stirring **** up and turning informative threads into ****ing matches.

So we're going to stop this before it gets worse. There are going to be a few changes which I think will get us back to the level of discussion the users deserve.

First, we're going zero tolerance on personal attacks. It's not that personal attacks offend my morals. We're grown men (and women). But if you want to call someone an *******, do it in PM or on the West End Zone. Nobody else wants to read that crap. If you call someone a ****, they're going to call you a ****, and before you know it we have five pages of block quotes and garbage.

The first time you attack somebody personally, it's a warning. Second is a five-day ban. Third is a ten-day ban. Fourth is permaban. All bans are read-only. You can still browse the forums, but you can't post. I hate to be the hall monitor, but too many threads are being derailed for this to continue.

Second, there will be a ten post a day limit on new posters and certain older posters. At any time, you can PM one of the mods (including myself) and ask to be taken off the ten-post limit. We'll look at your track record, and if you're here to talk football there will be no issue getting unlimited status. But those with the least to say tend to post the most, and this is something we have to address.

Third, certain posters who have required the most moderation will be on probation. A small group of posters seem to be at the center of most of the disastrous threads. We know you guys understand the game. Talk about it instead of how much of a ****face poster X is.

Last, we will be creating a Gameday board. From kickoff to an hour after the game, the football board will be frozen and all posts will be on the Gameday board. This board won't have the same rules as the football board and will give people a chance to vent and kneejerk and fire Golden. An hour after kickoff, we'll move some of the threads over to the football board and start again.

We want this board to be the best Canes board on the web. We have the people to do it. All I ask is that you stick with us, speak your mind and help us become the board we've all been looking for.

My only question is: how do we know if we are on the 10 post limit? Will it just be after 10 posts, we'll be locked out from posting or will we be able to see a record of how many posts we've made that day? (that was probably really confusing)

You have 400 and you're not a troll...I think you're good bro.

And one more thing. Miami has an extremely diverse fan base. We all communicate in different ways. Not everybody goes to the same boards and has the same inside jokes or posting style. Please respect other people and save the sarcastic remarks. This is a bigger problem with the older posters than the new guys.

I've seen guys who didn't make the prettiest, most grammatical posts who have forgotten more football than I ever knew. If you think someone's an idiot, make them look like an idiot with stats and insight. Following up with a "Not sure if serious" just makes you look like a know-it-all ****. And I'm as guilty of it as anybody. But we can and should be better than that.

Great, do what needs to be done to protect the integrity of the board. Too many have become saturated with Trolls and Canes haters

I like it.

I'm excited for this season, and having a good place to catch up on the happenings without all the non-sense will be a welcome addition.

Andrew will have to answer that one I will see what he says or have him come here and address it..

One question D$:

- Will the 10 post rule have an affect on posters simply wanting to acknowledge somebody having a good thread???

Like if somebody just wants to say +1, I agree, or good job.... how will that coincide with the 10 posts rule??

Also when does all this kick in????

That will count as a post. The best way to complement someone's thread is to hit the star at the bottom of the post (the rep button). That way, you acknowledge their post without having to clutter up the thread. We want you to use your posts to talk football and make them as meaningful and informative as they can be.

No need to use a post when there are reps with comments.

True, but then the rep limit needs to be increased or removed. I believe it's a max of 30 reps (pos & neg) can be given in a 24 hour period.

Ok.... yeah I didn't know what those symbols were for. I'm all set over here.

co-signed! The system is up and running. New users automatically fall into it and we will move some others into it.
