CB Xavier Lucas is transferring to Miami

There was an article yesterday that they were fighting production of their NIL agreements, plural.

Are we sure they aren't selectively enforcing from more than one potential test case?

Without seeing the article, I can't hazard a guess as to what they were talking about.

I do know that Wisconsin is using TWO agreements right now, the "memorandum of understanding" with the University, and then the "secret NIL deal" with the Collective, which is the entity that is actually PAYING Wisconsin players an "advance" on revenue sharing until revenue sharing actually becomes a real-life existing thing.

Looks like they had at least 5 guys transfer into the BIG (including 3 to Illinois). I pray they are dumb enough to have had at least one of those guys sign the MOU, but permit the intraconference transfer.

Selective enforcement? Collusion? Oh boy...

No. Doubt.

You certainly don't hear a PEEP about Big10-to-Big10 transferring. Right? RIGHT?

These mother****ers. Particularly their website fans who SNEER at us "less-educated" Miami types, as if we can't possibly understand the oh-so-complex game that they created. As if they are playing another level of 3D chess compared to us.

**** 'em.

I saw this subsequent to my comment that is even more direct in suggesting these agreements are in the wild.

Lane wants to play this game eh lol

This sounds like multiple teams in that conference signed a nice chunk of players to that agreement.
They are doing everything they can to make it seem like they’re the good guys and that their bull sht MOU is solid. Yeah… solid as wet toilet tissue.

This appears to be damage control. They can’t control anything except the Miami is cheating narrative. And it appears like social media is reading right through there bs. They’re about to have a lot of arrows pointing there way as it seems like they violated a ton of stuff.

And like clockwork, refusing to provide even a redacted copy of the agreement...

Edit: looks like @brcane1 beat me to it a few posts up!

OK, so here it is.

There is ONE agreement between Xavier Lucas and Wisconsin. There is one agreement between Xavier Lucas and the Wisconsin collective.

HOWEVER, the Big 10 has been drafting a common template, and sending it to schools (including Wisconsin) as to how to draft the first type of agreement (an NIL revenue sharing deal between the university and the player).

I have no idea how many of these things have been slid over to existing Big 10 players. And based on MULTIPLE comments from attorneys on Twitter who have been reviewing these deals, it is also not clear how many unknowing Big 10 players have signed their deals without red-lining them.

But we are clearly in some "disproportionate power" situations right now. Some "you don't need an attorney, you can trust me" bull****.

I know that not every poster will be equally sympathetic and empathetic to 18 year old football players. But who among us was presented million dollar contracts when we were 18 when we didn't know a single attorney on the planet?

I really can't emphasize enough how much I agree with you on how this went down. Non-competes are for executives and directors not teenagers.

And the institutions on the other side of the deal are backed by entire teams of attorneys aiming to protect hundreds of millions of dollars.

I don’t see this ending well for UW either.
Courts dramatically favor public records laws and access to public records. The argument that UW will be put at some vague, ambiguous competitive athletics disadvantage is unlikely to be successful when balanced against the public’s rights to see public records.

I don’t even know what these UW cheese heads are arguing anymore based on what’s come out.

They are expecting FBi style raids to happen to prove some crazy conspiracy when in fact, they are the ones conspiring.
