CB Robert Stafford enters the Transfer Portal

I mentioned it before but S&C staff seem to have problem or blind spot with hard gainers, all the kids we have who are undersized in this era never seem to gain any weight. Stafford, Cyrus Moss, Markeith, Chris Johnson, etc. These guys gained 1 pound combined in our program, lol..
Yeah that’s crazy, it seems so simple to just put on a few pounds a year at least. I don’t know what they’re doing lol

But sometimes it’s not. Some guys just have freakish metabolism. A buddy of mine played D2. They put him on a 6k calorie plan and he still could not gain a pound lol.

My nephew and son are like this. They have to really work to keep weight on. Just freakish genetic issue

Even if it’s 5 pounds in a year, if you lift and eat you’ll gain weight

Not always. Depends on the person and their body types/metabolism.

I know kids who couldn't gain a pound in HS, eating everything in site....but then were able to do so in college as they matured. I know other people who couldn't gain weight until their mid 20s, and that was going to the gym every day and eating plenty. One was a bodybuilder with a ridiculously rigid diet in terms of calories and timing...and no matter how hard he pressed in bulking phases, he was barely able to put on size until his body matured in his mid-20's to 30's. Even with nutritionists on staff, they are not with these kids 24x7 and unless the kid is dedicated to his craft, it could be difficult if he's naturally skinny.

Im telling you, you’ll put on weight if you eat the right things, can’t just be eating junk though. Lots of protein and carbs. Protein will build the muscle, the carbs will keep your body from going into carbolic state.

It isn’t just about lifting and eating. A massive factor is rest especially for these lean kids. Id ask them to avoid as much movement as possible outside of football and sleep 9+ hrs.

As i said, one of my best friends was a bodybuilder with top notch nutrition tracking and eating scheduling. He didn't add significant weight until his 20's. Every body is different and each matures at different rates. For men, muscle maturity isn't reached until closer to 30. For many of these kids, that's still 10-12 years away. Would that diet for weight gain work for a majority of people? Probably. But the theory that any single nutritional plan will work for 100% of people is just not correct. I work in the medical industry and i see studies and real life examples on both sides of the coin all the time.

You don't think the nutritional staff tried everything to add weight to Devonta Smith?

I understand it’s very difficult for some people to gain weight, but I’m saying even if it’s not much you’ll gain some weight. Devonta Smith went from 155 as a high school senior to 170 by the time he left bama. I understand how the human body works and yes your right as a man you don’t usually fill out your frame until your late 20’s. But if you eat and lift you’ll gain some type of weight and strength, it’s almost impossible not to.
