Worst rule ever man worst rule ever
The safety position has become the most vulnerable to the targeting call...can't be perilously thin there
Tough call. Not much more he could have done. WIth that said, after they make the call, get the eff off the field!
How bad does Carter and our staff look? Carter should have known and the staff typically escorts players off the field when there's a targeting call. Bad look all around.
Doesn't happen to premium $ec teams. The only reason I sleep at night is that I see these bogus targeting calls all over the country. Texas lost their best defensive player on a guy who hit the receiver late on a light hit directly to the shoulder pad. Receiver wasn't even phased. One of the weakest targeting calls ever. This is happening to everyone so college football in general is suffering, not just Miami.
I don't know how you play safety anymore. You're supposed to hit people, and the guy you're going to lay one on moves at the last minute and you're ejected. Teams better have some safety depth. What do you guys think about that targeting call? I personally cannot stand targeting calls. If the offensive player lowers his head AND there is no intent, it is completely unfair.
Oh, last year I think it was Bush for LSU who conveniently got called for targeting the week before the Alabama game on a horrible call.Doesn't happen to premium $ec teams.

I saw that hit and couldn't believe the call. (Was bouncing between that game and the GA/S.Car game.) Miami ALWAYS gets the worst of the calls. ****, most of the rules are implemented with the thought of how to impact Miami the most. ....well, that's what I believe anyways.True, but I saw another one like Carter's in the Red River SO where the defender turned his head to the side at the last second to try and avoid dealing a blow with the crown, and the refs called no targeting.
Differences like that truly force me to believe that certain refs and/or review officials truly keep Miami in the forefront of decisions, not just the call itself. Not really strange that these types of calls can vary from crew to crew / conference to conference...but it always seems to bite us in the ***.
UM
This. They are hawking Miami in order to help make sure we stay down. It's all about piling on. Every negative call cascades into a mountain of negativity on the field, in recruiting, and on sports casters b.s. talking points.I don't like the rule as it is pure judgement on how the receiver reacts after the hit.
But this rule is clearly being emphasisied by the refs or they will no longer be officiating. refs also watch the teams game films before they officiate the teams. So refs are waiting for Carter to make those hits and flag it immediately.
Except that kid clearly hit helmet to helmet and Carter led with the shoulder![]()
