oh my lord...

SOOOO happy to not see AJ Highsmith and Kacy Rodgers in our secondary! Finally talent backing up talent!

Therin lies half the problem though - the playbook is too complex for 'Student-Athletes'.

These guys aren't full time football players. Simplify things and let them play with speed and aggression.

The defensive scheme should have been simplified. If you are going to rely on better, younger players they need a system they can quickly learn. So instead of simplifying the system, Coach D stuck with a more complex system and played guys like Highsmith and Rogers over clearly better talent in Carter. That is a huge flaw and speaks to the stubbornness we have read over and over about Coach D.

So much potential at the safety position, what a breath of fresh air.

It will be interesting to see the progression. Bush and Jenkins were athletes put into the safety spot where Carter and Hester were full fledged safeties in high school. That's one seriously talented group of players. ****.

Is Kenny Phillips the last player to play like a Miami-caliber Safety for an entire season?

I think so.

Ray-Ray and VT showed some flashes and Deon was playing well late in his freshman year, but none of them were great over an entire season.

Ad Jaquan, Irvin and SBB the following year.... we'll be stacking talent like we use to

Deon could have had a bigger impact his 1st year. Had he not be knocking himself out making big hits. I think this season, he should return to that form. Hopefully he has learned to wrap dudes up in that time frame, and save his body for more than one play.

Agreed... Now the coaches have no choice but to play other people!

With Crawford going back to DB, I finally like our depth chart at safety.

SS
Jenkins OR J. Carter / Gayot / Fentress (WO)

FS
Bush / Crawford / K. Hester

“We are all a team,” Carter said. “I want to compete, but if someone else starts in front of me, I’m not going to get mad, I’m going to push them to go harder because we’re all a family.”

Best part to me. Love the attitude.

Somebody needs to redshirt next yr. No sense in burning a year of eligibility for both Gayot and Hester.

Well it won't be Hester that kid is playing day 1 and coming hard for a starting spot.. DB and OL recruiting are the only elite positions on the roster after 3 years...

This secondary could be crazy nasty

I love Howards Game, Burns is solid as heck, Carter and Deon could be a crazy duo...

Just got to put it together on the front 7 to give them boys help...

Jenkins' spring injury might be the best thing to happen to our safety corps. Let Jamal take the spot and keep it through summer and into opening day.

Jenkins played like trash last year.
