Carson Beck commits to Miami

Beck is far better than anyone else in the room. Assuming he recovers from his injury he should excel in Dawson's offense and with the talent around him. We will need players to step up at WR and TE. Beck won't bring Cam's WOW factor but should be better at the little things that caused the offense to sputter in moments, like our usual 2nd quarter.

He should provide an excellent bridge to Nickel starting in 2026. If the defense improves enough perhaps the offense can provide enough leads in games to give Nickel real PT. Emory had few opportunities last season. Might have only proved what we learned in the bowl game, but still.

Cam to Beck to Nickel can make Miami a QB preferred destination.

Build it and the WRs will follow.

This is going to sound crazy.

Im going to start by saying I do not think beck is better than Cam.

With that clear, I think beck will be better for this team's WL column in ACC play.

He has a better deep ball. I don't mean 20 yard corners and crosses. Go routes. Wasn't talked about enough with Cam. May be his biggest weakness throwing.

I think he is more likely to get 3 or 4 yards vs extend plays.

Lastly, since he isn't other worldly, I would expect us to rely more on the run. I think that in itself with make it easier on the offense AND the defense. I wouldn't doubt that our defense improves 50+ spots in acc play.

Unpopular take:

Some of y'all got the memory of a goldfish.

Why are we resigned to the fact that Beck will be such an obvious step down from Ward? As recently as 6 months ago it seems like plenty of smart people were ready to draft Beck higher than Ward.

I LOVED every second of Cam Ward, but Beck is just as if not more physically gifted than Ward. Could he be a step down? Of course. But if he is healthy, improves his decision-making and limits the turnovers, there is no reason why he can't replicate what Ward did this season.

Ward went from undrafted to projected No. 1 overall. Beck, with an arm injury, is still projected as a Top 3-4 round pick. There is no meaningful tools or talent drop off from Ward to Beck in my opinion.
Only people who thought Ward was going undrafted were either UF/FSU fans or people who never watched Wazzu. He was going to be drafted before Rattler

I typed up a few responses and just said nvm, lol.

In short. I'm hoping dawson doesn't get too cute next year. It cost us in GT and Syracuse (regardless of how ******* bad our D was). The defense was so ******* bad it overshadowed dawson and Mario's decisions at times. They won't have cam as a crutch next year. And will need to be smarter with beck at qb.

Beck welcome to the U!!!! My biggest concern for 2025 just went out the window. Feels good to have a QB in the room.
