Serious question from someone who didn't play... if they sense the OL is letting them go, I assume the play is to let up and hang back?

They each have a responsibility like a gap or a position. They’re supposed to stick with that assignment thru the play. In some cases their responsibility will change based on the plays development, but it’s organized so they all know what to do. When they freelance is when problems occur, and chunks of yardage given up.

Been saying this for years now. Yeah it would have been nice to put points on the board, bit our inability to flip the field made it a lot easier for our opponents to score. It's been a factor.
