Brooks is the only one who has really upped his game and the only one we're really missing
He's wasting his final year on a 12-10 Ole Miss team. He wasn't a great player, but he would've filled a huge void on this roster.Brooks is the only one who has really upped his game and the only one we're really missing
What prevented Brooks from being more effective for us last year? I know he came on some at the end of the season but ... he was pretty mediocre before that. Not at all what I think most of us had hoped for. He's wasting his final year on a 12-10 Ole Miss team. He wasn't a great player, but he would've filled a huge void on this roster.
Arkansas 9 game winning streak came to an end by 1 Saturday, losing 68-67 to Alabama. They (barely) remain in CBS Top25, largely on their upset earlier in week of Nbr 1 Auburn.
Chris Lykes has been playing less and less (and less effectively.) He played 17 minutes and was 1 for 8 in the latest near-miss.
Alabama's win helps us of course; they are 22 in NET and up from NR to 23 in CBS-25.
Our win over Wake Forest moved us to ( a Bubbly) 67 (up 5) in NET. Wake Forest is still above us (at 40.)
We are now 42 however in RPI (up 8), right behind Arkansas.
well, dang me for a jinx. spoke too soon, Tex A&M just crushed Arkansas in SEC final, Chris was 0-4, no assists, and not helpful. Would be interesting if we somehow play Arkansas in March dance contest! Talk about a Square Dance!Arkansas doing well and should be up there in the tourney talk. After 2 games with no points and few minutes (not sure if was injured) Chris Lykes has been back strong last 2 games for the team which has won 18 of last 20...
Chris was 9 for 16 with 33 points in the last 2 games as a 6th man, though he had more minutes (29 and 26) in each than several starters. And more steals than turnovers. Go Chris.
Matt Cross really screwed himself big time.Chris Lykes left and had his worse season in college at Arkansas playing least amount of minutes in his career averaging least amount of points.
Earl Timberlake left and had a worse season and played less minutes per game.
Matt Cross averaged less per game at Louisville and played less minutes per game.
Grass isn't always greener
It's not a coincidence that Lykes has been on two good teams in his college career and both were as a bench player.Chris Lykes left and had his worse season in college at Arkansas playing least amount of minutes in his career averaging least amount of points.
Like him as a 6th man for sure. If he's your #1, 2, or 3 option then your team just isn't very good. Not sure the difference he would have made as far as wins or losses this season, we're pretty loaded at guard. Now a quality big added to this current team...It's not a coincidence that Lykes has been on two good teams in his college career and both were as a bench player.
It's interesting to think about how much better we'd be if he had come back, backed up Charlie Moore and been the 6th man.
I'll never forget it, me watching Timberlake in a Miami uniform for the first time:
