Canes hold first scrimmage of spring, Diaz comments (Stats Included)

oline is learning an entirely new playbook and blocking techniques against a defense that knows it's playbook in and out with refined technique. I'd be ****ed if the d-line wasn't dominating. You play faster when you know wtf you're doin.

offense gets the playbook down packed and the spring game should be exciting. For the record, since he stepped foot on campus I've declared it, Nkosi Perry is the next great QB at Miami. The 305 will stand behind him when it's all said and done. Mark my words(No Richt intended)

I hope you are right about Perry but it seems to be that all our great QBs were good from the first moment and just got better. Perry got his chance and screwed it up several times. I will be shocked if he doesn't transfer this year.

Rousseau is a ****n terror again. Need to put him against the first team and see what he can do, unless he is against the first team in which case, my oh my.
our DL will be a problem for other teams. adding the UCLA kid will give us enough depth that we can bring the 3 freshmen along slow. We are 4 deep at DT with Ford emerging and we are 6 deep at DE. Our DB's inexperience worries me. I think in 2020 our Secondary will be beast but our DL can cover alot up with pressure. Im concerned about LB depth so im looking at the portal.

Point out which Miami fan doesn't want the best man to win the job.

There are people waiving his flag. Scroll up.
I think those people, like myself, were just tired of all the Perry bashing and that a majority of our fans have moved on from Perry. In 2018, Perry had his issues both on and off the field, but I did see some elite passing at times. As I said many months ago, I'm not going to move on from a freshman or RS freshman because they will grow and improve in time.

It's only one scrimmage and we don't know how well the QB's actually played. Kind of strange how we have the completions and yardage for Perry, but don't have the yardage for Martell, and we don't have the completions for Williams. Also, we don't know if the stats were against the 1st team or 2nd team defense.

It will be interesting to see 1st hand next week what the new offense looks like and who performs the best in it. After next week, we'll have a better idea of where the QBs are at, but it's still a long ways to go before any QB can say they earned the job.

I caution everyone NOT to jump to conclusions after the next two scrimmages. A lot can change before Fall camp concludes. Most likely Manny won't name a starter until Fall camp ends to keep all the QBs in the fold and to keep the Gators in the dark.

If we run more 4-2-5 as expected we can absorb the loss of steed this year In terms of depth. That means the top backup would be mccloud if he doesn’t redshirt and be the man in 2020(I think He should do that honestly)

Wrong...he was third taking snaps. Is reading comprehension a problem here?

Like it was said earlier the snap order did not matter per your head coach... So I'm sure they all competed against similar competition.. I'm sure they want too see them all work out of similar situations thru spring at least...

Sorry - I can't forget what Perry did last year. He played in just about every game except LSU and ended up worse than Rosier stat wise. Zero consistency.
6/24 for 52 yards in a complete game. 4 Quarters.
5/16 for 35 yards, looked terrible against GT, I was there, Missed open receivers.
1/5 for 2 yards.
The 2 picks @ Virginia.
You can blame it on the coaching but a lot of his throws were on him. He had plenty of opportunities.
If I see Perry run out to the huddle in Orlando I'm getting up to get another drink.

All our good qbshad good coaching too. I'll leave it at that.

4-2-5 has been great for us but I'm not sure about it this year given how thin we are at experienced DB. More bodies, more chance of injury.

Perry’s stats look good, but if he was the #3 QB then what kind of a defense was he facing?

Saw a video where he hit Njoku for that 50 yarder and the defense looked like a bunch of motherless cucks out there. He also had a TD to Mallory.
