I think those people, like myself, were just tired of all the Perry bashing and that a majority of our fans have moved on from Perry. In 2018, Perry had his issues both on and off the field, but I did see some elite passing at times. As I said many months ago, I'm not going to move on from a freshman or RS freshman because they will grow and improve in time.
It's only one scrimmage and we don't know how well the QB's actually played. Kind of strange how we have the completions and yardage for Perry, but don't have the yardage for Martell, and we don't have the completions for Williams. Also, we don't know if the stats were against the 1st team or 2nd team defense.
It will be interesting to see 1st hand next week what the new offense looks like and who performs the best in it. After next week, we'll have a better idea of where the QBs are at, but it's still a long ways to go before any QB can say they earned the job.
I caution everyone NOT to jump to conclusions after the next two scrimmages. A lot can change before Fall camp concludes. Most likely Manny won't name a starter until Fall camp ends to keep all the QBs in the fold and to keep the Gators in the dark.
Sorry - I can't forget what Perry did last year. He played in just about every game except LSU and ended up worse than Rosier stat wise. Zero consistency.
6/24 for 52 yards in a complete game. 4 Quarters.
5/16 for 35 yards, looked terrible against GT, I was there, Missed open receivers.
1/5 for 2 yards.
The 2 picks @ Virginia.
You can blame it on the coaching but a lot of his throws were on him. He had plenty of opportunities.
If I see Perry run out to the huddle in Orlando I'm getting up to get another drink.
