I see D-Lineman drop into coverage in a lot of schemes and on good defenses. It's not like we're the only team to ever do it. I don't agree with it but some defenses will always do it.

It only took 1:48 into our first spring practice video for me to see Cory ****ing King dropping into zone coverage. **** everything :ohlord:

It's called a zone blitz dumb ***. It's not as bad as you make it out to be. Much different then actually lining Chick up on a WR pre snap. That should never happen.

What kind of nonsense is this? A DL dropping into a short zone??? ......I guess nobody watched this game:

I hate our system as much as the next guy. But it's not b/c of the extremely common zone blitz.

Porsters so clueless. At like he's in man coverage against a slot.

Lol at all of you. Calling me out like I don't know what the **** I'm watching. The difference between dropping Cameron Heyward into zone (6'5/280 and a first round pick by Pittsburgh) and Cory King (6'1/302 and probably should be on FAMU) is so ridiculous I don't even know what to say. KNOW YOUR PERSONNEL! King can't even play tackle and we want him on the short zone drop in our zone blitz? Have y'all watched any tape on our zone blitz? Can you name me one time that we broke up a pass or caused disruptions with our DTs dropping into zone? They don't even drop correctly. They usually vacate the zone where people are coming from. But I'm the dumb ***. Corey ******* King in zone!

can someone tell me who we had covering the crossing route last year who was suppose to cover that covering guys like ebron and the guy from wake forest how will we stop that this year ?

Personally, I like to see us running occasional zone blitzes the first day of spring practice.
Much better than us running bland, vanilla defensive calls like its a high school all star game.

I'd be more worried if the coaches called for a zone blitz and the DT's and linebackers just looked around and said' "what the **** is that?"

Offenses are complex these days, and you can't just sit in a 4-3 when offenses are spreading out 4 receivers and a rb.
You'll get eaten alive.
Everybody ******* about Shayon dropping into coverage, but unless you play 4 down linemen, 1 linebacker, 4 cornerbacks and 2 safeties, you are going to have to have some non traditional guys dropping into zones, like they do in the pros.
We play dime defense to counter spreads we will get run on all day long.

Our problem has been that we lacked DT push and had questionable lb and safety play.
With the right athletes the scheme is brilliant.
Just look at Seattle and San Francisco to see our scheme run to perfection.

It's quite common. I still remember Jacory throwing an interception to OSU's DT as we were in the redzone, as the DT dropped back to cover the passing lane and Jacory never saw him.

Didn't Vince Wilfork have an int recently on a zone blitz?

dammit mane... this defense is so bad... i remember fsu running a play and all of our players were looking at the sidelines waiting on a call... how can Golden defend his buddy..

Umm you have no clue what you are talking about. First of all, Corey King is unlikely to be a starter.

Secondly, Heyward is 290. A whopping ten lbs different?

Thirdly, zone blitz is zone replace. In fire zone, 4 underneath zones becomes three "hot read" zones.

Well then don't be one of those calling for the staff to go to Seattle and study their defense, because that is exactly what they do to. Here is a link to an article about it, but basically it is hard to get consistent pressure anymore with just your four down linemen and this is one of the things they do to create confusion and get more pressure. It is not like they are asking him to run 40 yards downfield in coverage. They are basically asking the DT's to drop into the short middle zone and hopefully the offsetting blitzing linebacker forces a throw withing a couple of seconds or gets the sack.
