Was it technically a balk under the definition? Yes. However, that was hardly egregiously enough to warrant a balk. ****, many pitchers make that same gesture when a pitch sequence comes in late. That was one of the most petty, ticky tack, balk calls I’ve seen. Completely unwarranted.
