Canes bs Convicts Game 3 1pm ACCNX

Hasn't started any games all year. You don't experiment in the post season. Next year Gallo and McFarlane will compete for starting roles.

Kind of like saving your ace to go with a "committee" approach in the only pool game that matters? That kind of experimenting?

Not sure what you're getting at. My position is to save Palmquist for the semi finals. Others think he should pitch in pool play. Their reason is if we fail to get out of pool play, our best starter will have not pitches. That is true.

However, if you don't trust your #2 and #3 starters to beat the #6 and #10 teams in the ACC, how the **** are you going to trust them in a regional or super regional.

To me, it makes sense to pitch Palmquist in the semi final game. He gives us the best chance to get to the finals. If you don't trust the other 2 starters against NC State and Wake Forest, then how are we going win the semi final game against a better team?

If we can't win with our other 2 starters, we have ZERO chance of winning a regional. Think about it. In the regional, we are going to save Palmquist to go against the #2 team. The other starters will have to beat the #3 and #4 teams. They need to take care of business in the ACC tournament. You can't hide them.

It will be interesting to see what Gino does. If Palmquist pitches in pool play, then Gino is more interested in getting 2 wins to lock up a national seed which is understandable. If Palmquist doesn't pitch in pool play, then Gino is focused on winning the ACC tournament to improve our national standing even more.

It’s not about trust. It’s about not saving your best pitcher for a game that isn’t even on your schedule yet.

Why are you so **** bent on winning the tournament? We need to avoid 0-2. The quickest way to go 0-2 is to fly back to Coral Gables with a fresh ace.

We didn't win 20 games in the ACC with one starter. You act like we can't win with the other 2 starters against the weaker teams in the ACC. Pathetic!!!

Winning the ACC tournament will improve our national seed making it easier to get to Omaha.

The only way we won’t be a national seed is if we go 0-2. And the best way to go 0-2, again, is to save your ace for a phantom game three that you’re not even playing in.

We're already a national seed, we don't need to do anything in the tournament.

Just throw Palm in whatever game we need to win to advance, if we have any desire to try and win the tournament.

We just need to use the tournament as preparation for our regional/super.

This is patently false. The #13 team isn’t “easier” than the #11 team. It’s an inexact science and all those teams can play. The goal is national seed, period.
We play #6 and #10. They are **** sure easier than playing #2 which will be the case in the semis.

If we can't win with our #2 and #3 starters against the #6 and #10 ACC teams, We ain't going to Omaha and likely not a super regional.

That’s terrible logic. The #6 team in the ACC has an RPI of 11 and can beat anyone in the country. How does anyone look past Wake Forest. Good lord.

Just an FYI....Wake Forest, the mere #6 seed in the tournament, has the ACC Pitcher of the Year.

10-3, 2.46 ERA, 94 Ks, just 19 walks. But yeah, we should be able to just throw anyone out there since they're just the #6 seed.

Whichever sec team that draws wake as their 2 seed is going to be upset.
