Can we still hate ND for the Cleveland Gary game?

Aside from blatant cheating, I'm not really sure how you can "miss" a call like that, and I'm not talking about thinking it was a fumble, I'm talking about "giving ND the ball as a result of a turnover on downs."

seriously? I'm pulling for them and Brian Kelly over that snake, Saban any day of the week

For those of us that went to the U in the 80's, there is No Question! I HATE NOTRE DAME. I DESPISE NOTRE DAME! and it was NOT a fumble...

After seeing Saban during his time coaching the Dolphins, I really dislike this guy too. Great coach but a really nasty despicable person. He is also a LIAR and he treats people like ****. All in all, not a good person. Other than Saban, I don't have much against Alabama, in fact, respect The Bear and the tradition. But to restate... I HATE NOTRE DAME! :ohlord:

In a perfect world, they both lose this game and become irrelevant..

I dislike Alabama, but that comes largely from Saban, and living surrounded by Bama fans in Chattanooga. I hate Notre Dame. No explanation needed.

His eyes right before he gets popped! hahahahahhaa

/yes we should all hate ND still.

//We should also hate Kelly who killed a kid by letting him fall off a crane.

I think it was an extremely rare combination of events. The play was interpreted as a fumble by the TV audience and no doubt the vast majority of the spectators. That feeling spilled over to the sideline crew. Only the referee realized he was handing the ball to Notre Dame on downs. He probably didn't vocalize it enough to get somebody's attention in time for a correction. The change of possession happened so quickly, minus a review or commercial or time out. The chains switched to Notre Dame ball and off they went. I never understood why Jimmy Johnson didn't race down there and demand an explanation. He never should have sent the defense on the field.

Everything worked against Miami. If the ball had scooted 10 yards upfield before being recovered, then it would have been glaring that a mistake was being made. A yard or yard and a half away was just close enough for nothing to be said. Obviously the most ridiculous sequence of events of all would have been for Gary to never lose possession of the ball, yet the same referee try to award the ball to Notre Dame. I'm convinced it would have happened, albeit briefly. He was in his own little world.

Later in the video you can see Jimmy Johnson yelling at the same referee at the Miami sideline. Johnson had probably figured out the magnitude of the ***** up. He was livid. The referee was grinning.

I don't give a ****. I live in the middle of SEC country and that's all I hear about every freaking day. SEC this, SEC that...these mofos root for a conference not a **** team.

I'm pulling for ND (hard to type that) over that ****head Satan every ******* game they play, especially this one.

I can't stand the SEC and any team in it...except maybe Vanderbilt.

Agree with you. I absolutely hate notre dame but if there's one thing that rivals my hate for them is my hate for the SEC. Sick and tired of espn riding their **** and hearing about how great they are when they are overhyped...not saying they are not a great conference but they are top heavy not much else. If they win another national championship I don't think I will be able to watch espn again. **** the sec and **** notre dame!!

Awsi,

First and foremost, my condolences.

With regard to the game in 88, I can't bring myself to watch, as is the case with the 87 and 03 Fiesta Bowls. In each case we were clearly the better team but between officiating and turnovers it was too much to overcome.

That said if JJ goes for the xp in South Bend we win the MNC. And I understand it benefitted us in Tallahassee the previous year but the difference was FSU was at home, we were on the road and getting ****ed over.

Anyhow I enjoy your work, went through the OU game in 85 the other night; **** were we good.

little Joecane cried that day. You're goddamned right you can still hate them.

Difference of opinion, however, I respect my fellow Canes' fans and their hatred of ND. However, I only started watching college football in 2001. Played hookie from HS to watch UM vs. Neb (I lived in Guam) and judging from the crowd, who seemed like the underdog, UM. Their sheer dominance led me to be a true fan.

That being said, I was too young of a college football fan to understand the ND rivalry so I don't share the hatred for them. There are plenty of good athletes that go to that school now. Manti Te'o is the lone reason to root for ND and that kid deserves to win a championship for who he is OFF the field to the community moreso than who he is on the field. He is as deserving of the MNC as Karl Malone or Dan Marino of their respective, never received championships.

Neg me if you like. But I still hate UF, FSU, and LSU.

I will ALWAYS hate ND. The Cleveland Gary call is just one more reason to hate ND. I hate them and UF for dropping us from their schedules and using BS excuses to justify being scared. Lou Holtz said the rivalry had become too big. Does that mean Bama and Auburn should stop playing each other? What about O$U and Michigan? Should they take a few years off and let things cool down a little? ND knew they couldn't get to the National Championship game with us on their schedule every year so they walked away.

Why should one program be able to dictate how they are going to do business? Join a conference in every sport or don't join at all. Neutral site??? Chicago is as neutral for ND as Kabul is to the Taliban.

Holtz left Arkansas and they went on probation. Same for Minnesota and South Carolina. I think I see a trend there, but what about ND? Where was the NCAA KGB when he left there? ND always gets a free pass and the media can't say enough about them even when they're 6-6.

This, and the fact they are total frauds who have to lose 5 games before they drop from the top ten every year. Finally after a generation+ of recruiting some of the nations best (according to the media) players the stars align and they win out. I don't think their bowl game will be between the best two teams.

So what would I want the outcome to be? I think the sports media will not cry if Bama loses and I want to see them cry... again.

And another thing, if ND wins the sports shows will be 99% ND talk and highlights. For the person returning from a year in the outback, unless they watch 20 hours of sports reviews it will be impossible for them to know there were many other teams playing that weekend.:ohlord:

I appreciate it, OMG618. My dad loved the old videos. But he had the same inclination, to avoid watching the devastating losses. Many of the games I've uploaded were taped by him. The good tapes were circled conveniently around his entertainment center but the games he kept but didn't want to view were stuffed into a little drawer in a side closet. I almost felt guilty when I sampled the contents of that drawer. Invariably it would be late at night. The Flutie game was in there, along with both Fiesta Bowls, the Sugar Bowl vs. Tennessee, and the 1988 and 1990 defeats at Notre Dame.

Dad would know what game I was working on for YouTube because I'd often bring the video to his house via a portable hard drive after transfer from VHS. He had a newer Mac with a faster processor so I'd edit it on his machine. Sometimes I'd fall behind schedule because he enjoyed the game so much I didn't have access to it. :)

I'll have to upload a victory. This game just happened to be the one I was working on when my dad's health declined.

I had almost every big game from the mid-80s to the mid 2000s on VHS, and they were all lost in a flood in a storage unit when I lived in Chicago. I now only have about 5 games on DVD, so I appreciate the games online, even the ones we lost.

People tell me that I should root for Notre Dame b/c I'm Catholic and what Saban did to the Dolphins..... F that

B/c he was a sh*thead for a coach w/ the Fins and then left? We were ****** before him and ****** after him.

ND is full of self-righteous p*ssies as well as a ton of other *ssholes who never went there. I'll be rooting for the Tide this game

Despise them, but respect them. In some sense I feel like we are aligned. Notre Dame and Miami in the top 5 is how CFB should be.
