Can Miami be Elite Again?

The Canes can be back. Yes.

Will the Canes sell out Hard Rock regularly? No. If it didn't happen at the OB when they were kings of the world in the '80's, early '90's, and early '00's, it won't happen now. This is a major league sports town and the fans want to see competitive games. College football just doesn't provide that on a weekly basis for every team.
I think you’d be surprised. It’s really the opponents that affect attendance.

But I think South Florida is so starved for football excellence that we would have good attendance even for non marquee teams especially if the dolphins crap the bed next season and they fire the head coach and gm and start over. UM would be a great value as far as season tickets.

I agree about the opponents affecting attendance. That was my point. Games against FCS teams and Group of 5 teams will never sell out no matter how well the Canes do on the field. And even those games against P4 teams that are not household names will struggle to sell out. Remember, the guy in the video was talking about the Canes selling out all their games if they became elite again. So, we do have plenty of real-life examples of the Canes being elite and it didn't lead to years of multiple game sell-outs in a row (and this was before there was the Heat, Marlins, and Panthers for some of that time).

I don't think the success or failure of the Dolphins has much of an effect. The Dolphins were *** in the late '80's and the Canes still wouldn't sell out against poor competition. It is what it is.

YES MF WE WILL BE

Yes.

The overall talent base has been creeping up, quietly in some respects. Excluding special teams, eight of ten position groups this year have an average composite rating that equates to a .9000. That’s never happened before from 2006 onward, and most years only a minority of the position groups had that average.

This year’s Canes team will be the strongest in over twenty years.

If ND just made the CFP CG I expect to see MIAMI there one day. ND doesn’t recruit like the SEC, but they made it. I expect our recruiting to continue to improve and we become a perennial CFP participant. Culminated with a CHAMPIONSHIPS AND APPEARANCES.
They have a good coaching staff that’s why

We’re already back.

The days of dynasties ended when NIL exploded onto the scene.

Now we are just like the vast majority of top 15 teams, scrambling to fill holes through the portal on a year to year basis while trying to hang onto as much homegrown talent possible.

And going into 2025, with a little bit of luck our roster has just as good a chance has anyone’s to win 10-11 games and get into the playoff.

That’s the reality of college football for the foreseeable future.
No, we're not already back. Still have NEVER won the ACC and only made 1 ACC Championship game appearance, didn't make the expanded CFP. Winning 10 games is nice and all, but we are NOT back, yet

Don’t even waste your breath. If one thinks losing 3 games and not even making the ACCCG game with the #1 overall pick is “back”, then there is absolutely nothing you can say that will move them off of that delusional standpoint. Move on.

True...never ceases to amaze me how delusional some of our "fans" are

The thing is, there really aren’t any more excuses. On paper, this one of the best coaching staffs we’ve had in a very long time and definitely Mario’s best staff since being here. The talent level(last year and this year) is the best we’ve had in a very long time and easily good enough to make a run in the playoff. The financial investment into the program is the best we’ve had in a very long time. Just win the **** ACC please, for the love of god, and make a decent run in the playoff and I’ll be happy for 25’.

We’re back if we perform above expectations this year. The talent level is better this year than last (although less experienced at WR and TE; RB depth is non existent). The overall talent level is improving each year.

Position groups where average composite rating is .9000 or higher:

2021: 4
2022: 5
2023: 6
2024: 6
2025: 8

Average composite score:
2021: .8916
2022: .8945
2023: .8992
2024: .9010
2025: .9012

And the 2025 score is being artificially lowered by two unranked players who transferred in on special teams this year.

The biggest weakness last year was at defensive back, and that’s where we are seeing the biggest improvement on paper this year:

Safety:
2024: .8952
2025: .9212

Cornerback:
2024: .9008
2025: .9063

Made a slight correction to your post
