USC was about to go on probation and receive their sanctions from the Reggie Bush case. Sentrell was allowed out of the LOI and pick another school penalty free because of the sanctions

The NCAA allowed USC signees to be released from their letter of intent due to the Reggie Bush Infractions. Just like they let kids transfer out of Mississippi and Baylor without having to sit out a year.
