Hurrah we had a 10-win season. Cam Ward put the team on his back and pulled off miracle wins. At one point he was Heisman worthy. I digress, what if he did not come. What if Emory Williams had been our QB, why is it assumed this talented team would not succeed. In my mind Cam was a distraction and we wasted talent by hyping him for the Heisman. What if we had been a ball control team with a formidable running attack. What if when using those RB's every game the OL understood each talent and progressively blocked better. Sure, Cam won those heart pounding games yet they were against inferior talent and we should win at least a few of those game going away, not in such dramatic fashion.
I've posted and thought Emory was the answer to winning and hope he gets his shot next year, especially with Luke coming in the wings. I've compared him to Steve Walsh who replaced athletic Vinny, Steve in two seasons lost one controversial game at ND. I've wondered if this intruding one year wonder would ruin the chemistry of the team. Comment wise it seems not but I'll won't be surprised if later we find there was conflict. I never felt Cam was a true Cane whereas our recruits express the thrill of becoming a Hurricane as an honor.
We supposedly got top talent via the portal yet the portal Canes performed quite well where they went, more so than what we got from the portal. Team chemistry starts during recruitment, I hate the portal. Coach what we have and not have them portal to success elsewhere.
