He was just really raw, went to Incarnate Word (the offense you see at Texas St now that’s very QB-friendly and turned TJ Finley into a more than serviceable QB), and ended up winning the Jerry Rice award for most outstanding freshman at the FCS level. Parlayed that into a second-team All-American selection in 2021, then went to Wazzu for a step up in competition.
