Josh Pate compared him to Brett Favre. Called him a gunslinger and said there would be some moments where people wonder 'what was he thinking!' but that you had to accept that along with the great things he does. That said, Brady, Mahomes... they all throw interceptions. You just have to keep refining your game and learning.

He locked in after that dumb pick. I guess it’s who he is for every couple of dumb plays he makes he makes up for it with 10-15 plays that make you speechless.

He just needs to stop playing hero ball tho.

Just take the check downs. I can live with the other stuff.

Some of the situations he got us out of and the plays he made were absolutely ridiculous.

This is all in the last quarter and a half of the game. If literally ANY of these don't go the way they did, we very likely lose:

- 4th and 3 from the Cal 35 with 5 mins left in the 3rd, he drills a slant to Horton for a 1st down

- We have a 1st and 20 after a holding call on the next drive, he runs for 15 to get us into a manageable situation

- After a 4 yard run and a throw for no gain to Williams, it's 4th and 1 with 12 mins left, and Arroyo gets an illegal motion penalty. Now it's 4th and 6. He smokes Restrepo for 7 yards, first down.

- 3rd and goal at the 3 with 10 mins left, he throws a TD to Horton, and Brown is called for genuinely one of the worst OPI calls in the history of the sport. Go back and watch this play if you can. We run a rub, and literally Brown DOES NOT MAKE ANY CONTACT with the DB. I'm not talking marginal contact. I'm not talking incidental contact, or a ticky tack call. He. Does. Not. Touch. The. Defender. In. Any. Way. And they call OPI. OK, bet. It's now 3rd and Goal on the 18. And Cam throws ANOTHER **** seed to Horton for a TD in tight coverage

- 4th and 5 from the Cal 48 with less than 6 mins left. You don't convert, you're dead. McCoy jumps. Now it's 4th and 10. No problem. First down to Restepo on another incredible play.

- Last drive of the game, they call an insanely bad unsportsmanlike foul on Horton to turn a 2nd and 5 on the 10 into a 2nd and 20 on the 25. Incomplete on 2nd down. Now it's 3rd and 20. He makes another absurd play I described in another thread where he knows he's going to Martinez on the sideline but purposely breaks the pocket and pushes the LOS to draw as many defenders to the middle as possible only to turn at the literal last second and whip a ball perfectly to Martinez on the chalk, gain of 23. The awareness of this kid is simply remarkable.

- The final TD was absolutely an RPO that he rips the ball away from the back and makes a perfectly accurate throw from a very odd angle while getting choked by a defender, Arroyo can catch it and turn up the field easily and score, and we win.

Every single one of those plays were high stress, high leverage situations. We had to have every single one to win. And he made every ******* one. As bad as that pick was to start the half (and I maintain it might have been the dumbest play I've ever seen a Miami QB make, considering the exact actions of the play, score, and it being first down), and the head-scratchers in the first half, the second half was literally as good as you can play the position. TOTAL control. **** near every ball was perfectly thrown. The one to Lofton that he layered up the seam with Cal dropping 8 into umbrella coverage after he told the **** ref to throw the flag for 12 men was indescribably good.

Legendary performance for an absurdly exciting player. That, boys and girls, is the Cameron Ward experience. Appreciate and enjoy it for the next couple months. He's the best quarterback we've had here since many of you on this board were conceived.
