Cam Giveth, Cam Taketh (some thoughts from Oakland, post-game)

What happened to the great OL that we were supposed to have. He gave us hope that for the past 2 decades QB would have gave up. Facts
No disagreement there but he passed on easy plays to gain yardage for big play moments that cost us.

But yeah the OL is a huge disappointment.

Our starting left tackle and best lineman is out. Now a guy who’s relatively new to the position but a physical freak is in there but still super raw. Messes up the cohesion of the line and takes the best player out of the equation. We dominated cal on run plays. We got way too far behind to show that

Is that decision on Mario

couldn't agree more with the op ... he was playing jacory harris ball for minute there ... we gotta take the easy 5-8 yard check downs
He's been doing it all season - the problem is our level of competition has stepped up and there's now a lot of film of Ward in this system. Opposing DCs are bating him, leaving the underneath stuff uncovered because they know he won't throw it.

Which makes the fact we put up 39 points with zero turnovers in our favour (we had to drive from deep every **** drive) all the more impressive.

Cal were 'green dog' blitzing (i.e. as a LB if your man stays in to protect you blitz).

The Broncos obliterated Cam Newton in the Super Bowl with that strategy - he simply couldn't adjust to the extra pressure.

If Ward continues to refuse to throw to the open man underneath (Fletcher and Martinez could have gone for 100 receiving yards each) then opposing DCs will dial up similar things.

The OLine is very, very good, but it's a numbers game - Cal brought a lot of heat to overwhelm them.

We’re also missing 2 starters

Guidry has to stop going cover 0 so much just rush 4. Also the defense has to stop over pursuing

So much overpursuing... Safeties and LBs biting on fakes and misdirection at a very high rate. DEs occasionally taking a fast, wide route to the QB and ending up too far upfield. Screens, dump offs, slip routes, QB runs... those plays expose us.

How many times in the last two weeks did it feel like the same old Canes again? This is a program that hasn't been able to dig itself out of a hole in years, and yet here we are in back to back weeks with miraculous comebacks and huge plays when we needed it most, and the borderline calls are finally (and correctly) starting to go our way.

It's still college football and a juggernaut one week loses to Vandy the next week. With everything that's happened, the Canes are still racking up wins.

YUP Restrepo along with Cam are the reasons we are where we are. Take Restrepo away this year and NO WAY we are 6-0. So unassuming, never makes DUMB mistakes, picture of clutch (someone tell me who has been more clutch in canes history- maybe Ken Dorsey). A bunch of top teams lost today so yeah take this one to bank. RESTREPO IS HIM
That 77 yard pitch and catch was the dagger... at that point it was OVER!

My honest opinion what he should be doing is playing to not give up the big play. Bend but don’t break D and then turn it up once the field is condensed. Bc the D is bad rn also I believe in letting ur front 4 eat the Line is solid on its own give help to the DB with the blisters not blitzing

Why aren't our Defense holding Cal like FSU did. Cam is a warrior and he has to put the team on his back when the Online crumbles and def give up chunk plays. Like wtf. These teams are not Georgia or Bama but Cam has us 6 and 0

The defense needs to go back to fundamentals. Like containment and setting an edge and playing your responsibility. It has been abhorrent for 2 weeks now
