They should be recruiting him like a priority from now....

Him and Mali Toney would be a HUGE start to a class that has its qb.

Also kid could help coach l pn the court im hoping he gets recruited at both.

Whatever efforts they gave to vernell brown they should be on from now on this kid

His mother is in the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame. This is not gonna be Jeremiah Smith 2.0.

This is how far this program has fallen.
He goes to the west.
Mom is in the UM sports hall of fame. I believe there are also some other ties but don’t quote me.

About to land our 3rd top 10 class.

But still not a lock.

Cant make this sht up

No, this is a reflection of how far some of our fans have fallen.

People who profess to be Miami fans and claim to root for the Hurricanes are inventing invisible competition and unknown obstacles for a recruit who is 18 months from Signing Day and has maintained a low profile and quiet recruitment.

But, sure, let's all FREAK OUT because even the most confident Miami fans simply don't want to take a kid's intentions for granted.

Pathetic.

I don't think most have a grasp on just how bad the state of this program was when Mario took over. It was institutional, systemic and it permeated all levels of the program. What Cristobal has done in 2½ years in terms of fixing things that the fans can't/don't see has been otherworldly. Plus to put together 2 consecutive top 7 classes with a great shot at a third after inheriting the mess he did is mind blowing. Don't misunderstand. None of this excuses the horrible losses and the coaching malpractice of the last 2 years. He also needs to win 10+ this year no excuses but the job he has done to get the rooster in the shape it is today from what he came in to has been nothing short of stellar. Absolutely stellar!

There is still a lot of work ahead as Mario didn't come here to win 10+ games for one season. He came here to elevate this program to the level of perennial championship contender. To the level of Georgia, Alabama and Ohio Taint. In order to do that he must win this year and take recruiting to the next level.

Recruiting makes no sense. Nothing is for sure. Pickett is currently an LSU commit ( for now) and our top corner is from the boot.

Pickett himself wasnt a legacy..His uncle played here and his uncle's son who was a legacy signed here last class.

Pickett's other uncle played at Ohio State if u dont remember.

When Pickett recruiting first jumped off HE ADMITTED TO not BEING A FAN OF mIAMI and BEING A FAN OF...lsu....where he is currently committed.

Yet none of that matters because each kid is different and I’ll trust the posters here that know what’s going on over this comment. Not trying to be a jerk, but the point is nothing is for sure. You countered when Pickett. I can counter with a ton of kids who didn’t end up at Miami or their legacy school: nothing is 100%

Pickett's dad is not in the UM Sports Hall of Fame. Antoine's parents are not in the LSU Sports Hall of Fame.

There are levels. Let's not just toss out names to make idle comparisons.

That's not a criticism, it's just a reflection that maybe, JUST MAYBE, a member of the UM Sports Hall of Fame might have a bunch of baby and childrens' clothes in the drawers and closets of her home that say "UM".

At an absolute minimum, it is very, very unlikely that Mom is in UM’s Hall of Fame AND she dislikes UM. It is almost silly to even speculate about her feelings for UM. As you noted, this isn’t just ‘mom or dad attended UM, or even mom or dad played a sport at UM’. Being inducted into a Hall of Fame is so far beyond being a student or even being a player.

see below they kind of answered for me.

There is levels to a legacy. Each recruitment for sure is different though.

But pointing to Pickett wasnt actually a good comparison considering what i stated. In his case he would be a legacy to Ohio State as well since his uncle Ryan played there just like Bookett PLAYED HERE.

Just like with the Vernell Brown kid he was my want in the class at wr...but his **** dad wplayed at UF, was on the uf staff for years, pushed kids to uf when he wasnt on staff , and his grandfather ALSO played at UF...Once i realized that in his recruitment just realized it would be an uphill battle to pull a kid with that sort of legacy.

I mean we could point to the Earl Little's, the Selwyn Browns (the older brown committed to UCF over us originally, we got damari and he transferred in)
But even The Chad Wilson's his eldest would of been a lock had we offered.

But im in the mind that we recruit Calvin for FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL like he isnt a lay up or legacy...woo the **** out of him could he could play in both sports.

Could you imagine Tony Chickillo committing to the gators?

It’s unthinkable.

I'll make it simpler.

Why is it so important for a bunch of posters who don't know the kid and don't know the family to be able to tell each other "he's a lock"?

I'm trying to say something without actually saying it. Because I've known a couple of recruits (a while back) who didn't appreciate having their decision "assumed" to be something before they had actually come to an informed decision.

Personally, I have a very high percentage of confidence on this one. But why do we have to talk about it like this in public? Let the kid have his process, let the kid have his moment.
