Calling out next year's Juniors

Lu, come on.

Tossing around terms like "transcendent player?"

Remember your audience.

You start throwing around big words here, and we all get confused, start throwing things, and you know damned well that not ONE of us has even SEEN a frikkin' dictionary in years. Much less know how it operates.

How does a redshirt freshman show transcendence in 8 games????

He shows that he is a baller. Kid can ball. Makes plays. Tackles well. Needs a little bit of work.

But you on him because he isnt Ray Lewis?

lol, we've had a lot of excellent LBers come through the program. Right now, he's flashed enough to make me remember Rocky Mcintosh. I'd give it some more time and actual games before he's tossed into once-in-a-generation player he's already been slotted as...and, I want him to do well, obviously. We desperately need an impact SSLB.

Fair?

We only praise his goon-ness. That's why he's a legend already

That's where you're apparently either trolling or can't read. I'm not him at all. I'm on you for acting like he's Ray Lewis before he's actually proven to be Ray Lewis, much less stay out of the doghouse long enough to produce like Ray Lewis.

I've been calling for more goons for **** near a decade. D$ can vouch. I just can't praise the guy like even Jon Vilma until he shows out on the field like Jon Vilma. I don't see how that's a slight. It's actually a compliment. Gotta stay active and on the field in order to produce.

Eddie gets plenty of praise for his play. He made plays this year and looks like a future all-star. We need him to get his chit together or we are likely screwed next year at linebacker from a quality depth standpoint.

This was his first season playing football with the Miami Hurricanes.

His first ever game was vs BC and his first ever start was vs Bethune

We are all acting like this kid has been playing for a few years now. His first game was Deon Bush's first game

That's great. I'm hopeful he gets his **** together so he can be available to further develop. But, my point was that while he may develop into a superstar, he hasn't shown anything to make him a transcendent player yet. A WEZ thread and message board cult status isn't going to change what he showed on film. He has on-field weaknesses that probably can only be addressed by staying in line long enough to be active for the games.

He hasnt done anything?

He's the 2nd leading tackler and TFL guy on our team with only 8 starts and 2 suspensions.

Kid is a beast and we all know it. Especially considering he was a "reach" on NSD.

Kid shouldn't have even sniffed the field according to the recruiting experts here

Not many frehmen LBers that are on his level right now. **** I would venture to say you couldn't name 10 freshmen LBers or true sophomores on his level right now. The only other one is on his team.

Read till completion. He hasn't shown anything "to make him a transcendent player yet."

Nothing you wrote, especially "he's a beast and we all know it," is evidence of being a transcendent player. He can be, maybe, except it has to be done on the field - not by hopes and dreams on a message board or in his brain. I'm sure Coach Golden is telling him the same thing.

How does one accomplish that in 8 games?

Derp

The same way DP did it last year - making plays consistently no matter where you are on the field (special teams, speacial packages ect)...It can be done, however, Eddie has not played enough or well enough to deserve that title.

****, i thought johnson was a redshirt freshman. if he gets his head on straight and has the year he's capable of, we could lose him and Perryman. that would really hurt.

A redshirt sophomore can still go pro though, 3 years removed from high school, like Lamar Miller.

Lu is on the money w/r/t to EJ -- we've all seen the savage potential and flashes of beastliness, but for every bone-crushing hit he's laid, he's had several mental lapses that resulted in wide open backs or receivers making big plays in the middle of the field. He's got a ways to go in pass coverage, and I think a lot of that has to do with discipline and maturity, two things which seem to be lacking in our putative superstar goon.
