Caleb Downs - picks Bama

His recruitment been pretty quiet is he overrated?
Tbh, I haven’t kept up with his recruitment mainly because he’s an AH kid & I barely pay attention to AH recruits lol

But all I can think of is there’s been questions about his speed, so maybe that’s part of it, but I genuinely don’t know 🤷🏽‍♂️

Oh ST had the lead a few weeks ago, but apparently Bama is pulling in front & have turned up the pressure in this recruitment.

Probably had nothing to do with money.
It actually might not have tbh...

His Dad played in the NFL for 7 years & coached for awhile after he retired, his Uncle on his Mom’s side is also former NFL CB & UNC CB’s Coach Dre Bly.

Not saying that getting a comprehensive NIL deal wouldn’t play a factor for Caleb, but he’s not a kid that grew up in poverty he comes from money & simply offering him some cash probably wouldn’t be enough to get him to commit to your program.

Development, coaching & the overall program will matter just as much as NIL for a player of his caliber.

It’s not like UGA & Oh ST couldn’t match any deal that Bama would put on the table & considering his older brother will likely be a 1st round draft pick next year, simply throwing money at him wouldn’t be the deciding factor in this case.

No, I’m just objective & look at situations clearly for what they are & not through the lens of bias.

I’m not saying that Bama isn’t offering him a big deal, the point I’m making is that he can get that same deal at either Oh ST or UGA, all 3 programs pay top dollar for Elite talent.

But this kid isn’t going to be easily swayed simply by money because he comes from money.

Speak of the devil, TOS just posted a story that Downs may take a visit to Miami sometime during the season.

THE LIKES FROM HIS OV'S:

Georgia:
“The development from the coaches, my familiarity with the staff, I have been there numerous times, being home and making a legacy for myself at home.”

Alabama: “The winning tradition coach Saban has built, how their players produce in the league, and their discipline with how they do things.”

Ohio State: “The family atmosphere, how everyone is trying to succeed, and the want to win. And how the coaches care about the players more than just on the field.”

Notre Dame: “The approach they have, the approach of having more than just how they can help you on the field. Their approach is what the school can do for you, after football, and how much money their grads make compared to other schools; the lifestyle of Notre Dame grads.”

The unused official visit is a security visit just in case.

“If I feel I need to take it during the season, then I will take it if I don’t feel confident in my decision, but I doubt that will happen,” Downs said.

While an official may not be in the works, a couple unofficial trips could take place.

“We’ve been thinking about taking visits,” Downs shared. “Maybe to Miamiand Texas.”

No commitment date has been set, but Downs wants to make his announcement before the 2022 season begins. When that decision is made, he is using a three-factor process.

“Development on the field, comfortable with the people I am around, and where I feel I can succeed,” Downs said.
