How good of a player was he during his time here? Compared to this current team where would he be on the depth chart & does anyone on the team have the potential to be as good/better as him?

He would be #1 at any position on the DL on this team. AQM is just as special. He could be as good as CC was in college in 2 years.

AQM is going to be better then C. Campbell was here at UM.... C. Campbell didnt come w/ the talent level AQM already has as a true freshman imo

Calais Campbell tied for the most sacks on our defense his Junior and Senior seasons. He was pretty **** good while at Miami. You can't teach that kind of size. He would be a starter for sure right now on this defense. There's not really anybody on the current roster that's his type of player at least from a size comparison. Maybe Kamalu? I think there's plenty of players on the current roster that will be as good at their respective positions as Calais Campbell has been.

His problem here was that going into his senior year he was being hyped as a top 10 pick and probably the number one DE in the nation, and unfortunately he **** the bed that year and fell from being a top 10 pick to a third rounder. He was a beast is soph and junior year, and thus far has been a beast in the NFL.

An incredibly undervalued player during his time here, because the rest of the team was blowing holes in the sides of the sinking ship. I think people blamed him because he was good. Seriously.

He shore could raise his arms a lot to get the crowd going.....great player but nothing special IMO a guy waiting for NFL draft....We had a few of them in the last 10 years

Agree. I thought Calais underperformed to his potential. But then again, that was nothing new for the previous decade.

Very good player, but doesn't rank among the Cane greats. Somewhat disappointing senior year. If remember correctly, not particularly strong in the weight room and perhaps influenced draft position.

didn't play his sr year left after his rs jr year and played on horrible teams. Had 10 sacks as a soph and was an all american and 1st team all acc his soph year and 2nd team his jr year he got hurt that season. Faced double teams all season his jr year his sacks dipped to 6.5 after 10 the year before still had a good year. Stop selling our players short because they left early to get payed and our teams sucked back then...

He was great when Palermo was coaching our DL, regressed IMO after he left.

Absolutely agree with this. Palermo was another guy who supposedly didn't see eye to eye with Shannon

I still remember being in Norman, OK and seeing Phil Loadholt just manhandle CC in that drubbing by the Sooners

All these porsters saying 'senior year'?

:diaf:

As a sophomore, he was better than anyone suiting up for us this year.

Campbell put on a ton of weight in the NFL. Hate to beat a dead horse, but if he had our current S&C program he would have been an absurd college player.

Monster of a guy (a legit 6'7", maybe taller), and a really good person. He was always hanging out with regular students.

He got significantly better his junior season and was on a horribly untalented defense which made his pass rush production drop but CC was a great player his SO season and would be by far the best player on defense his SO/JR seasons here.
