Calais Campbell signs 5-year, $55 million contract

Jesus most of you guys are so ridiculous. Just wondering, how many players have met you guys' expectation level while at Miami? Calais did what should happen at most great programs (granted we are not one anymore). You come in, redshirt, learn the position, get some reps, and then by your third year, you put in work. That's exactly what Calais did with success. Just because by his junior year, nobody else was good enough to take some pressure off him, doesn't mean he sucked or didn't meet expectations.

Congrats Calais. Keep doing work.

You could see what he could do as a soph @ the U. Losing palermo hurt, amd his junior year blew. But itwas always clear he had serious potential. He had really reshaped his body though. Not the same kid he was at the U.

After the BC game his sophomore year, I said he was a #1 overall type talent. Even after his junior year, no way he should have slipped out of the top 15. The Dolphins not picking him in the second was the first fail of the Ireland era.

The fact that he was a high character, high motor player should have been more valued. Of course, he had the natural height, coordination and strong-lower body. But he also had the mind. The other stuff (conditioning, technique) was correctable.

There was a scout quoted in Pro Football Weekly when he was coming out who said straight-up: "He has been poorly coached." If Palermo never left, Campbell would be signing his second big contract.

dude got paid. has he done anything since high school?
Do you watch NFL football?

havent seen an Arizona game since the super bowl vs. the steelers. i get all the dolphins, buccs, falcons, saints, panthers games. Never been a fan of Arizona. Calais underacheived at the U.. glad he is representing well in the NFL.

you must be a new Miami fan he was one of the only good players we had in 2006 and 2007 two of the worst teams Miami had in the last decade. 1st team all acc soph year with double digit sacks JR year battled injuries still had 6 sacks while facing double teams every play. He had no one around him on the line to free him up.

Kinda reminds me of Allen Bailey's Situation with drop off in production due to opposing OL doubling him every play
