If an opposing team needed a first down all they had to do was put Rolle's man in motion and get it to him quickly on the run. His cover game was weak.

I'll take another big Rolle type at CB for 4 years, thank you.

That mindset of looking for "Rolle type" corners destroyed our corner recruiting for half a decade. And Rolle wasn't even a good cover corner. We hid him in cover 2 with great safety play behind him and he was great in run support but got exposed immediately in the NFL. People make him out to be some mythical figure based on his FSU run support but forget plays like this:

Our corner recruiting became "look Randy Phillips is 6'2 and kinda maybe could play corner even though he's slow and can't cover!! Antrel Rolle!!!!"

Wow. You pick one play to try and make Antrel look bad. Dude was an amazing corner in college for us. Yeah, he is a better safety in the NFL, but even last year, he had to play some CB because of injuries and he did fine. And on that play, it's not Eddie Royal burned the crap out of him. Antrel made a bad play with the ball in the air. And Eddie Royal is no bum either.

If you want to hate on Shannon's DB recruiting, don't blame Antrel for it.

I would love to have a couple of corners as bad as Antrel on this team. I hope Tracey Howard sucks as much as Rolle did.
