Brian Polendey new commit

Even if he's a blocking TE, why take his commitment so early when there are so many other positions of need? This is a bit of a head scratcher to me.

I am not sure if yawl are looking at his tape but it looks good. If you go down the check list what can he not do? He's got length willing blocker
and very athletic with a college ready frame.

He's much better prospect than Walford was he's faster than Dobard RIGHT NOW NJOKU is a big WR playing TE we are talking about a Run and Pass Down traditional TE .. I hope we can keep this kid.

He means coming out of HS. Walford was a 1 star that very few people knew about. Played one year of fball I believe. Only reason most on here gave him a fighting chance was because he played Bball at a high level in HS...(great sign for a TE or DE. Its almost a prereq...thats the reason I want Jordan Wright so bad)...and Walford from the Muck. Very low bust rate. You take those kids all day.

Anyway, I always find it funny that people on here pretend to think that they just knew that Njoku would turn into the player he is now. IIRC, Njoku was a 3 star too right? IF he did get a 4th star it wasnt until OSU came knocking on his door. I dont care if he is a freak athlete. He has the same star ranking as this kid. So their potential is right at about the same spot if developed correctly. They are just different breeds of TE.

Daughtry put Richt on this kid like one poster said. Why not the take? Dobard is gone after this year. So who is our blocking TE now? We will need a kid like this bad in two years and people will thank the heavens that Richt brought him on when he is sealing that edge on 80 yard runs for guys like THomer and RBurns.

You don't know what this dude is or will be. Nobody knew njoku would turn out to be what be was. Nobody knew Walford would end up being as good as he was.

those guys were freakish athletes. even if they were raw, their ability was apparent on film. I don't see it with this guy.

Walford was never a freak athlete. Everybody was saying njoku was slow. You don't have to be a freak athlete to be a good te. Look at jason written, he will likely be a hall of famer and has always been slow but he catches everything and blocks.

I personally rather have a Witten type than a Jimmy Graham type, he's a cane but let's be real , he's a god awful blocker . Brings nothing to the run game .

I gotta defend Jimmy a little. He played one year in college and only a handful in the NFL. Up until this season, he was never really asked to block. He is a big man and strong. I am sure he can be taught how to block. Witten wishes he could do half the stuff Jimmy can.

Im all Canes all day but Witten >> Graham and its really not close..

Glad to have dude though..true blue in line TE

This guy reminds me of Arthur Lynch. Btw he's plenty of Athletic for a traditional TE maybe you guys forgot what that looked like

I like this comparison.

He's a tall, lean, muscled up kid. He's not a third tackle, but he looks to have above average strength. He has good mobility to block on the edge, in space, and on the second level. Let's see if he develops into a skilled pass catcher.

He's no Andrew Tallman :newman:

Well, dam. That seals it. Greatest blunder of Al's career was letting Tallman leave the program, or was that Randy? Everything that went wrong with the program in the last decade. Kid could eat cinnamon straight like nobody's business....we haven't had a kid like that since.

Can this Texas kid eat cinnamon straight?

Kid should have stuck to eating cinnamon for a living, because football isn't exactly going his way currently. Solid 3 tackles in 6 games last year.

This kid is a solid blocker with good hands not bad at all..... does he have any big-time teammates on our board?

I'm thinking he's Eric Winston 2.0.....

I thought about that as well. Get the kid in here at about 260 and see if he can grow into a T. Or you keep him at TE because you need all different kinds of TE's.

Agree, he looks like a future OT to me. Kinda like they did with Winston once they realized he'd keep growing and was not a TE (though he was freaking wide open against OSU when Dorsey missed him.........sorry, I still get nightmares from walking out of that stadium).

Lulz brock. Walford was a Mackey finalist so that has to mean he was a 4* HS all-american with offers from everyone.

Walford was a project and 99% of Miami fans were unhappy about him getting offered.

This position is just as important as any other. If he's the best balanced TE on their board they'll take him. Can't become a power team with nothing but flashy rangy kids.
