Breakout player on Defense

Jermaine grace number 5 is coming y'all

Would love to see him get the chance, not sure how many snaps he's going to be playing.

Yup. Similar to McCord and AQM last year, I only see him playing on 3rd and longs.

Which is a tragic misuse IMO.
Dude is a legit 4-3 WLB, another reason we should be running a 4-3. Sorry I said I wasn't going to bring schematic issues into this thread.

That's not even worth arguing. I think we can agree that he'd be best served as 4-3 Will. My problem is that he most likely will only play 20-30% of the snaps on defense if McCord and AQM's playing time from last season is any indication of how Grace will be used this season.

McCord becomes Vic Beasley from Clemson. Undersized edge rusher 8.5 sacks this year and a few force fumbles. Just play him on 1st and 2nd downs too..

I agree with you about playing time.

Just reading this thread makes you realize how much talent we actually have on defense now. Don't even remember the last time we had talent like this.

Ladarius Gunter. He puts it together and has an All-American year.....hopefully.

I don't think he's starting over Burns or Howard. Gunter's still a very good CB, I think the other 2 guys are better though.
I disagree. Gunter is our 2nd best corner on the roster right now behind Howard, and he plays steadier than Howard too (though doesn't make as many big plays). Seems folks are sleeping on him just because he sat out Spring w/an injury.

I know everyone wants Burns to blossom and become the tall/physical shutdown CB he's supposed to be, but Gunter's going to play a lot for a few reasons:

1) He's a Senior.
2)He knows the scheme.
3) He's a steady performer.
4) He's a solid tackler.

If Burns weren't moonlighting on the track team, and took all the Spring reps, then I'd be more inclined to believe he'll jump Gunter and be 1-2 with Howard, but since he didn't, I can't get on board w/that.

I think McCord and AQM are going to be **** on 3rd and long. We saw what McCord can do when single covered, now we just need AQM to get bigger and stronger. Offenses cant double both of them.

In General I just like to see what our D can do to get off the field. Turnovers were ok, but getting off the field and getting the ball back to the offense is something we are going to need to do.

Gunter didn't play all spring either.
