And in just 2 clips Smith puts on a clinic of carrying the ball in the correct hand. Drives me crazy how many college players don't do this correctly.
Yup.
He put him in and position to succeed, we didn't.
Who’s his comp? Maybe Tony Pollard
Think he’ll be a nice 3rd down change of pace back who can make catches out of the backfield
Quad HillMaybe Duke Johnson
You do realize we preached the same position change to him?
No, haven't you heard? Miami is the most incompetent program on the planet, they don't know how to do ANYTHING.You do realize we preached the same position change to him?
Sometimes players trust the opinion of one coach over another and that the criticism / critical feedback is for the player's benefit, too, and not just the coach's.Brashard Smith didn’t want to play running back at Miami.
Brashard Smith didn’t want to play running back at SMU until it became apparent he wasn’t going to get much time at WR there either.
Sometimes players should listen to their coach. Smith will likely have an NFL career because Rhett Lashlee told him he wasn’t a running back and not a receiver.
If Duke Johnson was a career backup in the NFL (which is not a criticism at all), you all think Brashard Smith is going to be something more?
True but I believe Duke Johnson was ran into the ground in high school and at UM. He gave his best years, longevity and health to the years that didn’t pay. He took a lot of hit and had an entire career of carries before reaching the NFL. Ironically, Brashard Smith’s lack of an established position or role at UM has saved his body for the NFL.If Duke Johnson was a career backup in the NFL (which is not a criticism at all), you all think Brashard Smith is going to be something more?
And they're completely different backs. Look at what Lashlee did for Smith at SMU vs what he would've been asked to do at Miami. He's not built like MartinezEven if Brashard has switched to RB here, he never would have been a feature back in a Mario Cristobal lead team like he was at SMU. Not with Fletcher and Lyle on the roster.
Brashard had 274 touched at SMU this year. Martinez had 176 touches at Miami this year.
Brashard going to SMU was a win for him and allowed us to bring in Martinez as well.
Worked out for both of us.
