I agree with @DMoney I think our cb board should widen because i think we need a certified #1 type cb recruit Damari Brown level from last year..as i too believe the current 2 cbs are developmental guys.

I view Dylan Day as a cb recruit as well and not a true Safety as i believe they have him slotted to be a Nickel type. HE DIRECTLY IS A GUIDRY recruit. One of the guys we seen offered when Guidry came aboard, and began to offer Louisian prospects who we never viewed or have interest in.

I think Addae not being a recruiter is a bit overblown. Seems like we seen an uptick this class. He also now has Stevenson and Ivey possibly to hang his hat on from here getting drafted. Basically im not completely down on him as everybody else....but like dt recruiting..cb recruiting is where the big dogs lie....and if you want elite dbs you will be going up against the bags an elite recruiters. (Saban, Raymond, Robinson,Smart, etc)

I dont know who landed them but im also a fan of the Brown and Richard portal signings. And i believe we should be in portal for a DB every year to keep the cb floor high.

Well i dont have any problem with any single player we have committed. I have my questions about Frederique but the other guys are pretty good athletes. But this is one position where the best athletes and the higher rated ones are usually easy to evaluate and usually end up better. So our class and our targets dont seem to have many of those, which concerns me and why i say the overall picture is weird to me. Patterson would be a star quality kinda guy but i would also like atleast 1 CB of that quality.

Btw just overall, DB recruiting has been weird af to me. I would like Addae to move on, and maybe spin the block on Surtain from FSU or Raymond from UF. Do 2 things at the same time. Then also shake the trees with Pitt DL coach as well. Just me musing on where i think we have room for growth. Love Coach Joe and the Polenysian connection but Partridge i think at Pitt and JT would be a crazy 1-2 DL punch on the trail.

Also just noticed 247 is not very high on Robinson only a 86 rated 3 star but 4 star composite

I think Gaby said Robinson was closer to 6’2 or under and safety recruiting shouldn’t be an issue if we get Zaquan (and maybe Mincey?). Also, Addae coached 4 DBs drafted last year, and seems to have a great reputation for development. Stafford and Brown are the best class of DBs in recent memory, I’d be patient with him, but Partridge and JT would be a crazy combination

When it comes to skill position recruiting, its the stars for me or players with elite athleticism. Thats how Sam Shields can go from an average college WR to a pro bowl level CB in the NFL. Yes u can pick up some eval picks but u need the elite athletes. WR, CBs, RBs.

I coached Patterson thats a cane lean.

Need a whale at CB for the cb class to complete

We seemed to like who we got at safety…Thomas was just higher on the board than the Faustins and Jacobs of the world. Rydarrius Morgan seemed to be pretty high on our board.

I liked two other kids from Louisiana early on but appears the staff was just higher on Thomas and feels like Patterson in the bag. Mincey is also in our top tier of targets and like Day has versatility.

If we whiffed on Thomas, I think Jacob would have gotten more interest. Maybe the Sanders kid from New Jersey as well.

As for DT…After like April there wasn't much interest from us in Robinson. Just seems like we weren't overly impressed and he was a back up plan.

It's also possible that they weren't feeling us so we moved on.

It isn't always that the coaches don't like a recruit, sometimes they don't care for us. There's a ton of reasons for that both ways.

Oh ya I agree…Although I'll add that normally we would hear that from some of our better message board sources.

Ya D-Rob that definitely may be a possibility. Jacob was feeling UM pretty good thought seemed like.

You think Mincey can play corner ? And lots of schools seem to be taking the wait & see with Howard to see how he performs at Central.
