This guy releases a "top coaches" list every few years and they're even more laughable than his top prospect lists. It's basically just a list of guys who coach at loaded high schools. Samuels is on this year's list and he hasn't even coached a game yet. LOL. And you'll never see him give credit to guys who coach at "lower tier" high schools. (ex: the guy at Douglas who's one of the better coaches in Broward) ****, he had Rocco Casullo on his top coaches list a few years ago when he was at STA. What happened, he forgot to coach now?

Nice guy. 100% dedicated to South FLA high school football. Knows a ton of interesting facts. Doesn't know football itself. His credibility = no bueno

You also have to understand that alot of this stuff is political too. He has his weekly spot on the Joe Rose Show. (one of the highest rated, if not the highest, rated local shows in SoFla)..So he has to appease the general masses im sure. (Re: your comment about top coaches) It makes for good radio when he says that Ice Harris, Roland Smith, Billy Rolle and whoever STAs coach is at that point in time are the best coaches in SoFla.

Its fine and dandy that there is a good chance that Johnny Jones from Douglas, Joe Black from Taravella, and Joppy Shad from Western are probably better because they do alot more with less but unfortunately the listeners on Joe Roses show including Joe himself would look at him like he was out of his mind.

Leave that kind of stuff for the message board for guys who are prob more in the know.

As for the top coaches list, while some of it may be political, there's a reason why those coaches are at the better programs. That doesn't mean there aren't good coaches at the schools that don't post good win/loss records, they're just harder to identify.

If you have the time, make your own list and revisit the two down the road.

Uh, I can assure you that Samuels is NOT at a "better program" because of his coaching ability. (I watched him give THE worst clinic I've ever seen last March)
Are you actually insinuating that every coach at a winning program got that job solely because of his coaching ability? That's not how it happens.

Good coaches aren't hard to identify at all if you know the landscape of South FLA football. If you notice that West Broward, Western, Douglas or Cooper City are going 7-3 (or better) and making the playoffs then you investigate that. You find out how they're doing so, and then give those coaches props for working with less. Why is that a foreign concept?

You do realize that a few years ago Mark Guandolo was one of Blu's "top coaches", right? So was Rocco Cassullo. What happened? Those guys aren't running loaded programs anymore so they forgot how to coach? How 'bout Billy Rolle? He's on Blu's list this year. Why wasn't he on that list when he was getting raped at Coral Reef? (running a **** 5-2 defense lol) ****, my boy took Coral Springs from a 1-9 record to a 7-3 record in his first season as HC. Took them to the playoffs, beat Deerfield and nearly beat a loaded Hallandale team. He won Broward County Coach of the Year but wasn't on Blu's list. LOL

I mean, obviously I probably wouldn't have noticed this if the kid wasn't one of my former players...but the year that Juwan Dowels had 10 interceptions and won Broward County Defensive Player of the Year (as well as 1st Team All-State)... Bluestein didn't even put him on his post-season Top-50 list. LOL

While I understand everyone excitement for Blades, and he had strong off-season between 7on7, rivals camp, the opening Miami & even paradise. He has to prove himself a little more this year. He has the tools though. While Samuel is better right now, Blades can be the superior corner down the line. STA will get him right. Samuel and Surtain are very well coached, understandable considering who their fathers are and the schools they play for.

real talk how to you compare blades to the rest of SoFla DBs? I think he's top 3 in his class and i think Ivey's has LOADS of potential?
