Biggest holes

I think that outside of Chick, we're gonna struggle to get pressure off the D-line and I'm afraid that's gonna expose our secondary again.

Surprised nobody has said QB yet.

At the most important position, we have no proven commodity. Very worried about this.

When I saw the title of this thread, I immediately thought of Paris Hilton. But, yeah, safety is my biggest worry.

Agree with luv..If duke gets hurt and misses time we have no explosionat the rb position were in trouble.. I am the most worried about our DE...I wish Olivier Vernon came back..I think were gonna be good against the run but we wont get much qb pressure without some creative blitzing...At safety i am very concerned. That position will lose us a few games..Bush should be at corner...

After hearing about Johnson and Paul banged up I might have to put linebacker depth at the top of the list.

For some reason I am not worried about WR, but RB. I just dont feel like Duke is ready for full time and the rest im skeptical about.

I share your skepticism my friend.

You don't want to put that much pressure on a freshman, but Duke can really can be the savior of this offense. Who was the last dynamic playmaker we've had here? Santana? Whoever its been a long time.

I can't fugging wait to see what he's all about.

'Dre and Willis were probably the most recent. Maybe you could consider K2. Regardless, yeah, it's been way too long.

wide receivers and safeties are not a worry of mine. I think the improvements that have been made are adequate. I worry about the defensive line, pass rush, etc, may take another year or two to get back to respectable.

As scary as the S position is, I think you have to say DL. We have one proven playmaker, Chick, who is as "proven" as a true sophomore could be. Otherwise, the other DEs are guys who either have a long history of injuries (Green), are undersized (Cain, Rico, McCord) or are true freshmen (O'Donnell, Hoilett, Hamilton, etc.)

DT is even scarier: Darius Smith, a one dimensional run stopper, Pierre, a young guy who's been moved from DE, Luther Robinson, a guy who may have had a great offseason, but who nevertheless was asked to move to OL by the coaches, and Porter, a guy who has had flashes of great play, overwhelmed by injury issues. Counting on true freshmen at DT is a scary proposition.

To me, great defenses have to be great up front, inside out. If our DTs cannot stop the run and collapse the pocket, our LBs will get eaten up against the run and our safeties by the pass. I'm very concerned about our DL this year.

With better corners i see VT having a really good year. Its hard to play safety when you had to bail the db on most plays. Miami vice will pull it all together this season since its a contract year for him!!!!

I think VT is going to make us wish that Ray Ray was still here.... Last year JoJo Nicolas was dealing with the same issues but he out shined VT the whole year.

Hopefully I'm wrong.... because if VT looks good Miami will win more games.

Our entire defense outside of Chick and Perryman is a massive hole. Hope we got some plugs. Hold on to your butts.

Safety is a scary position on this team. DE is also a scary position when you consider depth.

The WR group reminds me of the Dolphins' over the last few years. Even when they had Brandon Marshall, that unit needed a legitimate #1 guy. On a positive note, that group does remind me of some of the VTech WR units over the years. In fact, our offense reminds me of some of VTech's offenses over the years. Not sure if that's a great thing, but it's a steady thing.

We don't have a dominant defense at this point, but who thought we would. What we got is a good bit of question marks but if you look at what we did last year; which is keep ourselves in the games even though we had serious issues on defense; we should be better. So conventional wisdom would suggest that we should win some more games since we do have holes, but they aren't as gaping as they were last season. And last season, as bad as we were, most games were there for the taking.

This year, we take more.

Lamar should be in this conversation. Hankerson also played really well in 09-10. Olsen was a beast. We haven't been THAT bad lol.

+1
We underachieved but we havent been straight garbage.... Come on now... We had playmakers but our overall team hasnt put it together...

Im worried about TE play... Don't think those boys are ready yet...

anyone can block better the chase ford so they have to be better on that aspect.

yeah addition by subtraction definitely. And Asante was banged up last year. He's healthy now so I'm guessing he makes a big jump. Would be great if Walford could be consistent in catching the ball cause he's a tough cover for LBs and Safeties. Just needs to make the catches when its there.
