If these freshmen are as good as advertised I think the Canes could have a nice little season this year. What would you heads say are the biggest holes this upcoming season.

I'd say in order

Safety
Pass Rush/De depth
Corner (Experience).

It seams a little better then the last few years where the holes were DT, Corners, linebacker depth, offensive line, and qb.

WR is a potential one. We are relying on too many younguns for comfort. That being said, I have high hopes that the talent and work ethinc do translate into immediate production.

I'm scared to death over our safety play, I have no confidence in Telemaque and Rodgers and rest of the crew are unproven.

I hope Shayon and Kelvin can give us that pass rush we need to go along with Chick.

Even though it's a lot of freshmen I think CB play will be improved.

not sure if I'd call my list holes or just the spots that am least optimistic about...

1) Front 4 Pass Rush

2) LT - not a Bunche believer

3) Safety - if VT is listed as a starter I'm always cautious.

Safety is a HUGE hole. If Rodgers is our best safety, that's terrifying. I've been a VT apologist for too long. I like the potential of Jenkins and Bush but neither are very experienced at the position even for freshmen.

Obvious S should be the #1 concern.

DE is a huge concern for me. I'm concerned about pass rush but also what DE's can hold up against the run. Chick, Green (if healthy is a candidate), then who? Cain and McCord are both pretty light and inexperienced at DE, not sure if Hoilett or Hamilton are ready.

I'm actually pretty comfortable with Hurns, Scott, Dorsett, Lewis, Lockhart... ect. I think it could be a strong point even.

For some reason I am not worried about WR, but RB. I just dont feel like Duke is ready for full time and the rest im skeptical about.

I share your skepticism my friend.

You don't want to put that much pressure on a freshman, but Duke can really can be the savior of this offense. Who was the last dynamic playmaker we've had here? Santana? Whoever its been a long time.

I can't fugging wait to see what he's all about.

I love this WR group but we need someone to step up and be that go-to guy. Hank stepped up, then Streeter, now its a young guys turn.

Coach McDonald makes me love the group even more.

VT is our best safety, hands down. The froshes have alot of talent and promise, but Tracy is the only one who will see major contribution. On defense. Others will have a roll, but only based on what they best. On offense the majority will be handled by the upper classmen. Duke will be a liability on pass protect, so he won't be an every down back like James and Eduardo.

WR's, Hurns, Dorsette, Scott and thompkins should hamlet the 2 deep. Lewis and Lockhart will get some PT, but won't be too heavily depended on.

I think Golden has done a great job building depth, to give the freshmen time to develop. I am more concerned about how we perform.

Saftey with out a doubt.
I still cringe at Rodgers not making a play on the eventual TD pass vs FSU.
VT is not bad but still free lances more than I would like. He does make plays though.
AJ Highsmith = Jared Campbell.
Deon Bush could surprise but I would expect typical freshman mistakes to offset the good.

I honestly think that Kacy Rodgers will be better than him. VT let me down last year. He could have really stepped into the limelight and help picked up the slack back their but he completely disappeared after the Maryland game and he wasn't suspended at all.

while S in particular may be a bit of a concern, I think the backfield is better all around compared to last year. we are going to see what these coaches can do this year

Different question: where is this team better than most ACC teams? I don't see any.

We have better athletes then every team but maybe FSU and Clemson, although that can be debated. If you have good coaching/recruiting at Miami you will be successful because Miami is the hot bed of HS talent, unfortunately we had terrible coaching/organization for 10 straight years. This isn't rocket science, that is why its so frustrating watching Miami being average.

I agree. S is scary, CB is very young but I feel really talented. That said I'm more comfortable this year then last with the secondary.
