I believe the best method of attack to stopping the FSU offense is rushing 4 and dropping the rest in coverage; If we are not gettting pressure with our front four we should do exotic blitzes such as cover 2 trap on 1st and second down or mike and will fire cross fire zone blitzes.

I posted this in the Lucane thread....Todd McShay has a good write up on this on ESPN insider. First article that didn't suck off Winston the whole time....

McShay basically gives a lot of credit to his recievers and says you have to play soft and tackle. Also talks about locating the ball for the DBs because Winston throws it up a lot and if DBs can locate he can/should get picked. If you do bring pressure, make him go to his left because he's very good on the run to his right. Talked about Greene being very quick and good after the catch, and that Benjamin will win 50/50 balls if you let him.

yes we have to play soft coverage and make sound tackles after the catch. We can't give up big plays down the field, make them methodically drive down the field on us..

Coach D has the perfect plan...... the defense just has to get back to dominating at open field tackling like they did against Florida. I think the fact that it's a rivalry where Miami is being counted out will definitely help in that regard.

My concern is just making sure Miami's offense can keep putting pressure on Winston to score.

I'm just saying the best way to defend Winston, we need to play really well on defense to take the pressure off Morris.

I think you really have to mix it up. And get unexpected pressure on Winston. For example wait for him to reach the top of his drop before rushing. You can't play too soft because Pitt did that and got crushed. We must tackle in space. That is the key to this game. DP needs to have laser focus because if he can get a clean shot on one of these WRs it might be night night.

I think we need to mix it up and tackle. Winston will throw some jump balls, like all the other noles did. The wide outs get a lot of yac! You have got to tackle well and lay the wood when gievn the chance.

One thing we know about Jimbo is that he will run the same play over and over again until you adjust to it. I expect him to do his usual in this game which is to start with screen passes to the outside and then move on to zone runs if they have numbers in the box.

I think we should throw the most exotic blitzes and zone coverages literally throw the book at Winston and don't let him get comfortable maybe change up coverages back and forth presnap to throw him off. He's been comfortable with his reads all year we need to make him sweat it and think

Careful, this might actually turn him on.

I been made a thread like this..funny same thing being said I got bashed for saying it.Wow.

Best defense against Winston will be long, sustained drives by our offense.

Beat me to it.... Keep him off the field kinda what Wake did to us in the 1st quarter. Long sustained drives that end in points ( touchdown preferably) or a long drive and pin them deep in their territory. Force them to drive the length of the field.

The key to beating FSU in my opinion is not our defensive play. Its our offense. No turnovers, long drives, capitalizing and getting points

I agree but those 4 guys better be nfl prospects or play like it u gotta get pressure with 4 and I cant see us doing that with Green and Chick at end. gotta be 17

Renner almost hit 300 passing and Price went just over 300 passing with us only rushing 4. The front four have been inconsistent at best getting pressure. I have a recurring nightmare of Winston being like 45-50 by hitting a ton of 8-12 yard passes, leaving our D on the field for 80% of the game.

Mix it up so that he gets the wondering eye...hit him in the middle a bit the send pressure on the edges...then mix it up
