Best safety combo

Lewis has a pick 6 on the biggest stage of them all, narrowly edging out the signature play from Sikes against the Gators. Everything else being equal, always give me Ed Reed.
Totally disagree as Sikes play was a gamechanger, Lewis came with a big lead and he was way behind play and in right place for an overthrow. Sikes int was arguably the most important pick 6 in school history, especially against the gators.

reed and Lewis- hands down fellas!
get a grip.
St was beasting it up,but Reed was on a different level.
And Lewis was underrated while he was here. should of started im fromt of Blades im his Jr year!

"Don't forget Bennie Blades and Selwyn Brown. A pretty good pair."

With Daryl Fullington in relief. Mo Sikes delivered the hardest hit I have ever seen on a punt returner I think.

So, the question is Reed or Taylor? Honestly, for this team right now I'd want Taylor.

I'd take Reed all day BUT your right about for this team. My reason though is Al. He would want to put 20lbs on Ed and would bench him for freelancing. ST busted lips and played more in the system that Ed. Reed was his own coach and in fact basically coached the D for our NC. As great as ST, may he RIP, was, the defense was never as good after Reed left. Still choosing between the a little like picking between your two favorite ice-creams. Just give me one please, right now.

Actually, Bennie was kind of cake and eat it too. Hit like ST but played pass and ran D like Reed. Wow, has anyone ever had three safeties like that in their school's entire history -- forget about within 20 years. You throw in all the other guys who would have been all-time great for most top school it is just unbelievable what THE U has been. How many pro-bowlers have we turned out who can't even touch Bennie, Ed, or ST. Was safety even our best position? No fans, anywhere, anytime have ever been so Blessed as Canes. My Lord, what a ride my friends. No wonder everyone hates us so.

Daryl Williams should be mentioned as he was a stalwart who went on to play a long time in the NFL.

Listen, ST was a beast, and if it was anyone else we were discussing then it would be ST all day and i dare anyone else to argue......but him vs ed???? IMO its a gap between the 2 and ed is on top. I admit, these are the kind of debates i love to participate in because you cant lose either way you pick, but hey....im pickin "im hurt dawg" all **** day

Carlos Jones was big but we were at home and dominating with crowd a factor, if gators score then game is close and they have momentum on ROAD that play totally deflated them and totally took the crowd out of the game. The Walters/Reed was a int and handoff that wasn't a pure pick six by definition. I think Sikes int by situation is more important

What Sean was abel to do was simply unreal.

Hey i agree about how sykes pick was big.....but that carlos jones pick sealed that fsu game...esp how they embarrassed us the year before....and hey, that reed/walters was still a pic six in my mind just a tag team version......after the worst game in dorseys career that saved out championship season...... by the way, ed reed is the only dude i saw who juked a dude that was behind him on that play lol

Sikes got beat a lot. Reed and Lewis were the best combo we ever had.

Between those two groups. Have to take Reed and Lewis, but it's very close.

Lot of good tandems.

B. Blades and Brown

Reed and Lewis

Reed and A. Blades

Taylor and Sikes

Meriweather and Threat

Meriweather and Phillips

Lot of good safeties to come through here

Others like Williams, Hurlie, Pharms and more. Can keep going.

My personal favorite still is, Reed and Lewis.

this!!!
Sikes used to miss so many tackles!
St also used to go for the kill too much!Granted, when he connected- it was a demolition lol.
But, Reed And Lewis were insane back there.
****, Lewis ended up with the colts i believe.
