Best Player in South Florida regardless of class IMO

Thomas, Yearby and Sony are miles better as prospects, but I'd happily take Lane in next year's class.

I'm a big fan of Yearby and have compared his style to Fred Taylor, but his ceiling doesn't seem to be as high as Lane's. I am, however, going off of less from Lane. Lane's unrefined, but has a few attributes that are simply bigtime.

Watkins was also doing it in SW Florida vs Lane in Miami. If you put Lane up in SW Florida he may be one of the most hyped recruits. Just saying.

Trevor Darling, Alex Collins and Keith Bryant are in the conversation.

What I've seen from him is not on Watkins' level yet. But, it's totally unfair because I'm referencing Watkins as a senior in HS. I will still never understand how people didn't see just how outrageously superior Watkins was as a prospect. Those were some epic battles on Canestime because I was so enamored with his ceiling.

Who are these people so they can be outed, tarred and feathered? This guy was plum ridiculous from day one. In his clips, he was catching punts with his hands like Rod Woodson and outrunning everybody at a strong 6'1. No holes in his game.

This thread gave me an idea. I'm going to put together a top 50 list of players in South Florida regardless of class

Like it. Would it be based on high school production or college upside?

A little bit of both, but I'm leaning towards making it more about high school production

He doesn't even have to run crisp routes yet. Someone take a peek at his video where he catches a few short hitches and just obliterates Safety angles. He looks like AJ Green with a few pounds.

That's what jumped out at me, too.

The play at 1:05 looks like a Bo Jackson Tecmo Bowl run.

Good idea...It'd also be interesting to see how people think our current crop of freshman compare to those on the list.

Fred Taylor is a solid comparison. My favorite comparison is LDT in his prime. Yearby has an ideal build for an every-down back, elite suddenness, quickness and agility, and he plays tough. From what I can tell he's also a good receiver and blocker. He looks like a stud college back right now and that video shows how athletic he is. He doesn't have the gamebreaking upside of Sony and Lane but that doesn't mean he'll be any less dominant.

The only downside with him is..he's a Nole.

really miles better??? so he isnt even close to them??

Yes. Those 3 are high 5*s imo (so is Mackensie Alexander) while Lane is a mid-high 4* as of now (limited footage). I should've just clarified this from the start, so thanks for asking.

ok besides sony who is that other running back we were just talking about a few weeks ago?? that kid was the real deal

Go holler at your boy Mike Bakas. The battle was over who was the #1 player in the state and I thought it was...

1. Watkins

his next peers (Clinton-Dix, Wilder, O'Leary, etc.)

IIRC, he didn't even have Watkins as #1 in the state on his final list. Now, maybe that's semantics, but it led to some lengthy battles because, as I said, I felt so strongly about the topic.
