Best of All Time

Graig Cooper? lmgdao

Cooper was a good player for Miami and by the look of his list it seems like he is young. I mean it would be kinda stupid to put a list of your favorite Canes if you never watched them play.

I must be mistaken then If this a top ten favorite list but graig cooper wouldn't crack the top 100 players In Miami history

He didn't say rank the top ten best players of all time did he? I think he said rank your favorites. I remember Graig coming onto the scene as a freshman on a Thursday night game and playing huge. It sucks he tore his ACL. He would have been good in the league. He made plays here. I always loved seeing him play.

I am in my early twenty's. I could put Michael Irvin there but I never saw him play at The U, I wasn't born.

He didn't say anything about favorites. He said best of all time.

I must have read it as favorites. My bad then. Graig was my personal twist to the list. I knew no one would have him because he isn't one of the best ever but he was one of my favorites.

I loved cooper. He was just way overhyped coming in. Better than Lesean McCoy, that's what people were saying. We all see how that's working out

Remember though a lot of that goes back to the recruiting sites. Joe Schad took a shot at them the other day on College Football Live because of how overhyped some kids are. That isn't Graig's fault and he also had the torn ACL.

Not going to make a full swing at this, but CaneAlmighty is making a lot of sense. No way you can have an all time great list with out our legends. At a glance, the only glaring omission from this list is Jim Otto.

Micheal Irvin
Bernie Kosar
Ted Hendricks
Chuck Foreman
Ray Lewis
Sean Taylor
Ken Dorsey
Jerome Brown
Bennie Blades
Edgerrain James

Just missed
Otis Anderson
Ed Reed
Sanatana Moss
George Mira
Devin Hester
Frank Gore
Clinton Portis
ANdre Johnson
Willis Mcgahee
Reggie Wayne
Gino Torretta
Steve Walsh
Jim Kelly
Winston Moss

Not having Otto on the list is not a glaring omission. Otto was a good 195lb center/lb in college. Nothing more. His real accomplishments are in the AFL, and they put 65 lbs on him. He was one of my favorite players in the late 50s, but he was not special in college.

Sorry, I missed him. We had another safety a few years before and I cannot remember his name. Real smart, like a coach back there. I think he went 1st round to Pats, not sure. Getting old and names are slipping away.

Sounds like you mean Fred Marion.

no lamar thomas or horace copeland love???

Not for top 10 all-time. But, that's the problem isn't it? We've had so **** many very good players that it's hard to limit any list to just a few guys. It seems disrespectful to a lot of guys who won't make the list. But that's just me.

Graig was a good Cane. Was barely top 10 on his own team though...that was pre-ACL. Still love the guy's heart.

An impossible task, there are so many greats. As an example, I did not see Ted Hendricks in any list above. He was probably the greatest of all -- 3 time AA and a one man destruction team. No to mention one crazy dude. Playmaker said Ted was all Cane before there was Cane. Plus, looks like both our Heisman QB winners missed the lists, and only one Outland winner made one list. Reed and ST, rip, show up nicely but Bennie Blades nowhere to be seen? Ed Brown? Kosar, Kelly, OJ, a host of Dlinemen .... and has anyone given two greater memories the Thrill Hill? The list goes on forever. We could have to go by decade to have any chance. Even that would be tough. We had great players before Howard got here. We just never had great coaches until Howard got here.

Bennie was on mine

I love Coop but I dont think he would be a top 10 RB of all time if you really thought about it..Anyway, yeah this list is really open for debate. It would be better just to name your 10 fav canes of all time...Or the best canes at each position of all time..I will take a stab at that..

QB - Steve Walsh will always be my favorite but this has to go to Ken Dorsey IMO.
RB - Tie between Edgerrin James and Ottis Anderson
WR - Irvin
TE - Winslow. JShockey a close second.
OL - Mt. McKinnie
DE - Mad Stork...Daniel Stubbs a close second.
DT - VERY close but have to give it to Jerome Brown. Sapp was a CLOSE second.
LB - Ray Lewis...Morgan a CLOSE second.
DB - Pick'em.. we have had alot. But I have a soft spot for Ryan McNeil.
S - Bennie Blades...I know most would say ST or Reed and all of you would forget about Daryl williams and Fred Marion..But Bennie was the mold that never broke..
PR - Kevin Williams. Nobody at UM was returning punts like that until KW started doing it.
KR - Devin Hester
K - Carlos Huerta

He missed Warren Sapp who was unblockable in college. ****, he finished third in the Heisman voting, as a defensive player.

And Dan Morgan, arguably our best linebacker of all time. He collected three of the national defensive awards in his last year. Guy was an absolute beast.

Those were the days when our defense was the best in CFB, and won us games.
