Best individual performance by an opponent

It was Ty Detmer in 1990.

We've had players who had ton of success against the Canes the past 7 years and in the 1984. But our Ds pretty much sucked those years.

Our D in '90 was awesome, and we were healthy against BYU (we also lost to Notre Dame later in the year, but we missed 7 starters in that game).

Detmer played like Superman. He was throwing darts in the midst of constant pressure all game long. It was the most impressive individual performance I've ever seen against a great Miami D.

That **** fullback from GT like 4 years ago. I think he had like 250 yds. What a miserable night.

My friends and I went to that game. One of my friends got drugged and ended up in the hospital. The other and I made it to the second half in plenty of time to see the destruction of our defense and nearly die from the miserable cold.

IMO, Calvin Johnson was the most talented player we ever went up against. He had a terrible QB (Reggie Ball, if my memory serves me correct) and he kept bailing him out with amazing catch after catch.

Agreed. We had no business losing to BYU. Detmer beat us almost by himself.

Calvin Johnson back in 2005. We trotted out those dumb Nike's with the one sleeve orange, and Megatron pwned us all night. That was just 2 weeks removed from beating VT and climbing to about #3 in the country, too. We only lost 14-10, but it seemed like when GT needed a play, Calvin Johnson made it.

I remember sitting in the rain in the OB watching Lavar Arrington make a ton of **** plays against us

Ty played the game of his life, but he was a good player and BYU was putting on massive points all season long.

The thing that really ****ed me off was Miami was up 21-13 with 12 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and they couldn't score the rest of the game. And BYU's D sucked.

It was inexcusable that our O couldn't score one point for the majority of the 2nd half.

Another performance that really sticks in my mind was Buster Davis for FSU in 2006. That dude was EVERYWHERE that night.

He was just a rugged player that just played his *** off that night. Seemed like he had about 20 sacks of KW all by himself lol

Faulk, Detmer, Megatron all good answers..

I'll go with another painful one, a tandem whose names I will always associate with the voice of the PA announcer at the Sugar Bowl: John Copeland and Eric Curry, DEs for Alabama

15 years later the NY Giants used the same formula to knock out the undefeated Pats in the Super Bowl. Same exact ****. When you kill the Qb 2 seconds into every play you WILL be the better team that day, regardless of what else is going on.

Upon further review, I change my vote to Ty Detmer. Not only did he beat us, but he took a pounding all night long.

I never liked the scheduling of that game. Miami was opening with a quality opponent on the road at 4,500 feet elevation. And, BYU had already played a game. Your team usually makes it's biggest improvement between its first and second game. That was a bad scenario for UM, IMO.

What were Napoleon Kaufman's stats in the game which will not be named? Probably because of what that game meant, but he stood out to me for the rest of his college and pro career as someone I absolutely hated.

Another game that stands out to me was Karim Abdul-Jabbar at UCLA. He made Miami's defense look ridiculous.

Viginia's Tight ends in the last game at the OB. I can still hear myself screaming. "Why is nobody covering their Tight Ends!!!!" FML!
