Best defense left on our schedule?

I hope Miami rolls up points and yards on Duke to beat what UNC did to Manny's Canes team a few years ago.

The weird fact is that Duke had less total offense then Florida State

Jalen Rivers will be playing for his current HC against his former HC.

One of the very few Manny guys we have left. Wonder what the duke game means to them

In fairness, they may have faced the better QBs when playing against the backups at UNC and FSPOO
 
Its FSU and probably not even close. FSU has a good Defense..problem is, the O is so bad those guys just give up after awhile. Which I foresee happening on Saturday. But so long you can ask a Defense to hold down the fort while the Offense just plays like crap. I definitely can see our front 4 having one of those games like in 2020 where they just impose their will on FSUs OL putting our offense in great field position all night. Then FSUs Defense just gives in leading to an eventual blowout.

Duke defense is statistically one spot behind ours, giving up just under one yard per game more than us, so are you saying we have a good D? And we have played better competition.

Advanced stats seem to have us in the 40s now, which about right as P4 below average at the moment.

I think UNC and FSU QBs are bad whether it's the starter or the backup so it doesn't matter to me.

Like FSU ran the same 4 plays all night and nearly won. I don't think that's a brag for FSU, I think that shows how luck dependent Duke defense is. Which is a typical manny defense.

After watching the entire Duke /FSU game last week , No , not worried about Duke. They just cant score .

Same with FSU.

I don’t recall saying that, and I didn’t mention anything about us being highly ranked in the TFL category. If I was going to actually compare our D versus Duke’s (or anyone’s else’s), I would look at more than just overall Total Defense as a stat, as that number is a ranking measured solely on yards/play. We all know our D has been a feast or famine-type scenario, so if you drill down into that it’s right there. That’s just the law of averages.

A more interesting comparison might be our rushing D, where we are ranked 8, and Duke is ranked 79. However, we both are highly ranked on 3rd down percentage defense, Duke being 7th and Miami 12th. We are also similarly mediocre on 1st down percentage defense, with Miami at 31 and Duke sitting at 42. But anyone that actually understands statistics can see with a cursory glance of the main defensive numbers that our line is better than Duke’s. And again, if you continue to drill down, it will be obvious that our line is better than our secondary, and why our Total D yards/play number has outliers.

Hoping the coaches take advantage of this and do to them what UNC did to Manny a few years a go.
